ITT: runway collections that have made you mad.

First that comes to mind for me in Ann Demeulemeester F/W16. What a complete sabotage of the brand by Sebastian since Ann has left.

Why do people hate this collection so much? Because it's different? It's like the only good collection the brand has had since she left imo. Everything else is just rehashing Ann's ideas shamelessly with nothing new brought to the table. As someone who loves the brand I want it to stay alive and evolving rather than stuck in the past.

gonna keep this thread going
JW Anderson FW16
was really appalled with how cheap, tacky, unwearable and inconsistent this collection was
especially considering his SS16 collection which was for me one of the best collections in recent times and also his work at loewe
that collection was everything jw anderson should be, futuristic, fun, quirky, yet still androgynous
i know he likes to never keep the same theme season to season, but this was just an example of that gone wrong

>> No.11115841

anything by SLP. what a fucking disgrace to the legacy of yves. hope you burn in hell hedi along with your shitty music

also galliano's recent work

What aggravates you so much about this collection? I think it's extremely mediocre but it doesn't strike me as being much worse than a typical London collection. The bowie era influences are interesting and there are a lot of classic Raf staples thrown in, the collection is charming at the very least.

>>11115578
There is a lot to be said about a collection that pushes what a brand's image can be, however in order for that collection to be a success it still needs to have great clothes that respect the ethos of what the brand is about. This collection is... horrendously tacky. Just straight up, it's kind of disgusting to look at. It's like a twisted mash up of SLP Haider Ackerman and scooby doo.

There's none of that classic Ann poetry to be seen and while there may be a decent amount of romance, it's certainly not the right kind. This isn't the first time there was a collection like this though it reminds me heavily of the equally vile ss13 (something that also happened to be orchestrated by Sebastian mueller).

I think too much pressure is placed on brands to innovate, I think there is a stronger message in exploring the fullest depths of what your core image is. Yohji yamamoto and rick owens are masters of this, and I am personally still enraptured by every new collection they put out. Leave the crazy ideas to the young.

Btw, I think this look is fucking gorgeous regardless.

First half of Marc Jacobs' show was pretty meh. I'm really not a fan of the EVERYTHING IS VETEMENTS XXXXXXXXXL CLOTHING AND 12 INCH PLATFORMS BECAUSE HURR DURR TRENDY. Same thing that annoyed me about Raf. The show progressed very nicely, though.
>>11115841

Galliano's recent stuff has been pretty good, I'm glad he's been able to make a comeback from his exile due to the Jew stuff.

Margiela is a really good brand for him. They mesh very well, and he's able to bring something that's distinctively his own in a completely different frame than he could at Dior.

This stuff is a little more tame for Galliano desu. I feel like he captures the brand's essence very well, but has managed to make it more... unrestrained. Maybe this loudness is what's bothersome, but I personally love it.

You know, I actually like SLP but I completely agree that it's a full departure from Yves. It's honestly like Hedi just took the chance to build his own brand over top a recognizable name. From a financial standpoint, I'm sure that's absolutely fine for both Hedi and anyone with a stake in the brand, but it really does seem unfair by any artistic standard.

Hedi is also starting to feel stagnant imo. Which, it's totally acceptable for a designer to settle into a niche, but I think part of the acceptance of Hedi taking over the house is the idea that he's here to progress the brand. It doesn't really feel like progress to simply change the the ethos and rehash from there.

what do you mean departure from Yves? The house was initially known for creating clothing for the youth and Hedi continues that original idea. I urge people who think it's Hedi's intent to tarnish the history of the brand to read his recent interview with Yahoo.
