i didn't like how wide the shaft of the boot was. I couldn't fit my pants legs over them and they looked weird tucked in. I was considering taking them to a cobbler to have them slimmed and a zipper added but I only paid $20 for them and didn't want to put anymore money into them.

You will need:
Step 1- Fill a tub or bucket with 1:2 bleach to water solution. Doesn't really matter how big the tub is as long as you can fully immerse your shoes in there
Step 2- Drop in your sneakies (minus laces) and give em a stir. You will see very quickly that the color starts to change from black to a rust brown color. I left mine in there for 30 minutes but this is probably not necessary.
Step 3- Take em out. Don't worry if they are bright orange still. Mine were too. Just put them somewhere sunny to dry. I just poured out the rest of my bleach on top of them after they dried a bit, but this might not be needed. What they really need is like 12 hours just to sit there and fade. Trust me, it takes a while.
Step 4- If they're still not pale enough for you after a day, hit em again with the bleach I guess. I didn't really know what I was doing, so this probably isn't the best way, but I like the end product anyway.

I almost copped a black old Nike hoodie from a thrift store to try doing this to, but was worried about the bleach eating the fabric out badly. How much wear did the bleach add? I don't want it to be threadbare after the first wash but a little is acceptable.

This kid on r/streetwear bleached a black nike hoodie and he said the bleached part was just a little softer. I've never bleached anything besides those shoes and some old jeans, so I can't really give much advice, just be aware that different fabrics respond differently to the bleach and never bleach anything unless you're prepared to ruin it.

This honestly looks terrible, but it's mostly because that unfinished leather looks stupid as shit. Copy the original topline as well as you can - as far as I can tell the top's been "hemmed" (idk if that's the word for folding then stitching things down). Maybe follow the original curve of the topline, and slim them down if you can too.

>>11110754
I don't really think the shoes will look good dyed any color, and you'd have to take care of the red stripe too. Forcing a DIY rarely goes down well - just keep them as shitty beaters or sell them/give them away.

>>11110870
Fuck I saw this last thread and they look sweet. Did you taper/slim down the cargo pants, and if so, any comments or issues on the fit or the size of the pockets or anything? I slim down most of my pants myself and I've been wanting to try cargos, but I feel like the size of the pockets on slim pants might look stupid.
