Gucci's new collection, just like Alessandro Michele, their new creative director is all about the age of aquarius. References can be seen trough out the collection in the most well done way. 60s.

The fact that this thread has zero replies shows the true nature of this board. Little to zero discussion of real fashion outside of Hypebeast shit and "is this /fa/??
"Should I shave my face?"
"Should I post my shitty fit"??

It's sad this board won't get better and actually become a place for stimulating fashion discourse and a resource for aspiring designers/lovers of the craft, but I guess that's just the nature of the 21st century and internet culture really. You have everything handed to you, but you squander it all and sabotage yourself from being better.

But yeah, I've seen part of this collection and I like it quite a bit. I think Michele is really consistent and I think that should reflect in sales really soon. I personally think Gucci is one of the best brands out right now and they only continue to push their brand. My only complaint is the maximalist nature of the brand's use of color gets a little tiring. I would love to see what Michele would do with some subtler approaches in terms of detail.

or maybe a single season from a single house is a bit too niched for interest to spark, especially since its gucci you wanna talk about.

It definately is a breath of fresh air for the brand, but i cant help but think he's cut off a lot of the old gucci market with the whole tounge-in-cheek, making your grandma/grandpa's excessively overdone old clothes look cool again
I certainly respect it in a fashion sense but i think someone like JW Anderson did the whole revamping the old stale luxury brand thing better with loewe, seems much less over the top yet still quirky enough to keep some of the older customer base while attracting the new

I really liked the music score to the show and the way it was shot was lovely. The clothes mens wise were for me not good except for some shoes but the womens stuff mostly looked very nice with bits from all ages thrown in. But that music score was brilliant.

The way that dress moves when she walked was beautiful.

Exactly what I'm talking about. Good discourse guys. Real articulate! I've really gained a new perspective, which is the whole point of discussing topics on a DISCUSSION BOARD.

alessandro's designs are the equivalent to the holds up a spork meme. fashion critics praise it only for its nostalgic quirkiness and also because most of them have gucci in their pockets. give it a few seasons and it will be stale. quirkiness as a concept isnt bad but it doesnt dig much below the surface and alessandro does quirkiness for its own sake
