Probably could be considered avant garde but pants are all I think he does well, especially recently he's been doing some really weird shit. Interesting designs but nothing practical, like a face made into a dress looks really cool in product shots but outside of that there is something lost.

I'm all for runway pieces and couture but most of his pieces like that come off gimmicky. That can be alright sometime but when most of your pieces in the runways are trying that hard to be "out there", it seems less truthful and more of an attempt to br something he isnt. Plus Plokhov seems to be stuck in this middle ground of couture designer (something along the lines of Van Herpen) but also a strictly RTW designer as well. Some can make this work but his conceptual pieces and RTW pieces are usually so dissonant.
