I want a buzzcut

Posted a few months ago, but now I'm back.
I have a pretty bad hairline and my hair is pretty wispy, but it's extremely soft. (I've been taking biotin, but I don't think I want to get into fin)

Buzzed my head to a 3 on top and 1 on sides near Halloween and my hair is so blonde that a buzz makes me looked almost bald. I also think my head shape/hair line isn't really fit for a buzz.

Ive just been growing the top out (this is like 4 months of growth from a buzz) and occasionally trimming the back and sides to a #1.

Should I continue to grow it out and just see what happens? I also rather not completely shave since I like it and so does the majority of girls that live here , but I wouldn't let it get much longer than this.

My hair can change textures pretty drastically based on what I do to it. 90 percent of the time I just let it be, but that was right after using some hipster, organic, vegan bullshit shampoo I'm quite fond of. I'll start brushing it a little more often though. Can I just do some hippie nonsense and put coconut oil or something in my hair to condition it, or should I get a real conditioner?

As for hair care I'm into more vegan shit than you are. I don't even use shampoo or conditioner instead I use baking soda mixture and apple cider vinegar mixture. Conditioner help moisturize your ends. Only the ends though. If you use too much it gets oily.

I use to just apple cider vinegar and baking soda too! My hair never really gets too gross, I run everyday, and usually just wash it with water afterwards. I've been using that shampoo just once every week or two, just so I can keep lying to myself and others and claim that I wash my hair. It definitely dries my hair out something fierce for a few days after though. I'll look into some good conditioner though, that might be the one key to a luscious mane that I'm missing here.

terrible meme, ive had long hair for awhile keeping it trimmer too shoulder length and it's horrible, hair gets a mess and you get tired of it so easily, finally got around to booking myself in for a cut.
My shitty opinion aside, to get a decent looking bun youre going to need it to go at least to your shoulders. make sure the front is the same length as the rest of your hair as well or else youll feel like youre waiting way longer, v painful
