Because they actually make limited quantity items, distributed on a somewhat limited platform. They use early adoption of cutting edge styles while adhering to a similar asthetic and using influential artists to do collaborations.

This all while maintaining a reasonable price point and quality.

The extremely overprice sweater i got is at least of quality (canadian cotton is god tier)

Its nice not to have sweatshop clothes from time to time.

the inherent price of an item is what people are willing to pay for it- just because you're in the majority who wouldn't/can't pay it, you're opinions aren't objective. it's the same reason you don't like $2 tees, but on the other side of the spectrum of price

it's niche and some of their pieces are fun and people recognize 'preme most places. The quality is good, although the price is high, but that price gap is bridged in majority by the fact that it's limited edition.

I dont like or buy supreme, but it's definitely not diamond tier. Supreme actually puts out some reasonable looking stuff on a more exclusive platform. I mean, the quality on a lot of things is actually pretty good.

"Limited Edition" matters when it's a valuable good.

Glorifies screen printed Gildan tees don't really quantify as good. Or at least, not 90 dollar MSRP good.

Supreme does have some nice unique stuff, mostly in collabs. Most stuff I see is not the unique stuff but the Hollister tier "here's the logo! Thanks for advertising" garbage that people only wear to be part of the cool boys club

Scratch that. Hollister actually makes decent sweatpants

I'd say it's Obey.

And because status symbols will always be prevalent in fashion. Why buy overpriced clothes unless people know they're overpriced? Ask any new money arab or chick and they'll agree.
