I paid $2000 for an Omega quartz. What's the big deal? 5 years later and it's still running on the original battery.

100% accurate, loses and gains no seconds per day unlike automatics.

You get what you pay for. Automatic watches are certainly not superior to quartz watches in any way. It's just a matter of preference i.e. if you appreciate how an automatic works or not.

I personally, don't give a shit about the mechanics of my watch and I can literally build automatic watches myself.

If you're paying that much for a quartz with other features such as solar, radio controlled, gmt and all that shit combined then yeah fine by me.

But if it's just a plain quartz with date function, then it's just the same as any other quartz. You're paying more just for the brand name.

No hate on quartz, I know the history and why it's important but I can't justify spending that much. But hey it's your money and if you like how it looks then who gives a shit.

seriously. on top of that, the plastic crystal is not very scratch resistant at all, just look at your pic, goddamnit, and the plastic body is not durable either. maybe it would be fine if it was an IRONY line swatch but those suck too since they still have shitty crystals.

well its just my opining dude. as i said i own one pic above (a true military watch my father was given in the army) and it appeared that the movement is quite fragile and not precise at all. its acrylic crystal got scratched with some deep ones. probably the quality lets say of speedmaster and amphibia differs a lot.

however i was swimming with it in the sea without problems though i would not dive

But automatic movements aren't expensive either. You can buy swiss clones for $50 that can be put into any watch.

Of course it's for the brand. But that's true of any product ever. You pay more for the name. Even the likes of Seiko have a brand premium. They are making huge profits on every watch because they don't cost a fraction of the price to make.

honestly I thought the same thing but bought a watch jsut cuz it looked nice, but it's so much nicer to simply glance down at your wrist than fish you phone out of your pocket, especially if you need to check the time frequently.
