It's really subjective. My housemate does psychology and had some girls over to do an experiment where they'd be shown pictures of guys and they'd have to rate them while holding a mug of hot or cold water.

The girls ratings were random and strange, like less than average but not ugly guys would be rated 2s and those with conventionally attractive features (good jawline etc) didn't always get good ratings.

Basically girls have no real idea of what good looking guys look like
