Got my first job at JC Penney and have no clue what to wear. Interviewer told everyone to wear "a nicer casual." No clue what that means.

what do the other employees wear? and what is the general clothes that you will be selling? base it off of that. more than likely, khaki pants and a button up is more than enough. it's jcpenny not some extremely high end store.

but obviously for your interview, you should dress a little nicer.

your pic is about right.

go into the store and just people watch. Typically clothing stores like you to wear their product. Keep that in mind and keep in mind what your job is and how it should be presented.

I would wear smart casual. Tucked in button down and khakis or nice pants, dress shoes. If your coworkers are dressed more casually or formally just take note and adjust

I'd go with black jeans, white shirt, black tie, and black matted shoes if you're selling cheapish clothes. It looks nice and instantly identifies you as employee.

If the clothes are expensive, get dress pants and shiney black shoes instead.
