Sweaters, i believe, are best made out of wool and cashmere, call me old fashioned. My uncle bought a cashmere sweater for $500 and I find that very acceptable, but $100 for a cotton hoodie makes me feel a bit odd.

but it does affect the cohesion of a fit. it's from CDG Play line; a line of athletic basics with loud colorful graphics. CDG is a decent example for this because you could get the same look buying a grey sweatsuit from walmart, as you said it would just lack the graphic.

if you had the full CDG sweatsuit that cost 8x as much, I guarantee almost no one will notice or care more than if you were wearing the walmart one. Now if you 1. liked fashion, and 2. liked CDG enough to desire their sportswear basics, you could justify the purchase of the CDG hoodie as it's much better quality, not made by slaves, it might fit into your fashion collection of CDG items, it might just be because you can afford it.

the point of higher priced basics is that they mean something to the owner, they mean something to their wardrobe, and they fit a certain aesthetic that they're shooting for in an outfit.
