Seriously, just go buy the most current GQ mag and copy what's in there. If the party is in the evening/night then go with darker colors. Don't wear anything flashy/vibrant if you're white. Unless you're handsome as fuck and/or have the confidence to pull it off.

If it's a work/organization party then chances are as long as your suit fits well you'll have outdressed 95% of the party as most adult men don't know how to dress themselves.
