How do you get the no poo thing to actually work? Tried it for 1-2 weeks but my hair got so unbelievably greasy and disgusting I couldn't take in any longer. I have thick blonde hair that when greasy it looks like brown shit. Is no poo only viable for certain people? Or is it just a meme?

This. I have hair that dries out super quickly, not greasy at all. If I shampoo more than once a week it will just be so dry. I shampoo every weekend, maybe every other weekend if I didn't do anything where I got my hair particularly dirty. At the same time other people can shampoo every day and their hair will look fine.

Anyone else here going for jake-mode? I've decided to start growing out the beard along with my hair and so far I look like utter ass. I'm 3 months into hair growth, about a week into beard growth (but my beard grows hyper fast). My hair gets real poofy and grows outwards so I look pretty goofy, and the dirty stubble that has yet to form into a proper beard isn't helping.

Anyway, what's the best brand of non-sulfate shampoo and conditioner to use for thick oily hair? Everything I've tried fucks my hair up to no end and it's really frustrating.

Use keratin conditioner and mix it with a matte cream with medium hold. Equal parts of both, use a wide toothed comb and let it air dry. Also do yourself a favor and keep shaving until it comes in thick enough. No shame in cocoon mode.

Wash-out and leave-in conditioner (literally anything Sheamoisture)
For ringlets, light defining gels are going to be your best bet for holding shape. While washing your hair, gently curl it around your finger, apply gel, and don't touch it while it air-dries.
Only wash your hair once every 3 days
Put your hair up like this when you go to sleep so curls don't collapse.
