I never said they weren't obviously influenced by other things and I don't see why it's a bad thing at all? Designers don't hide their influences or try to pretend they don't use other work for inspiration.
Fashion isn't supposed to be some super secret club where everything is sacred that's literally why there is no copy protection in the fashion industry. People use each others shit all the time and that's what keeps the industry from stagnating.

it's nothing to do with thinking it's new or unique I just said that I think some of the designs look nice to me personally. Something doesn't have to be 100% uniquely designed from the ground up to look physically nice.
I like a lot of Rick stuff too and there are a bunch of other designers I think have nice pieces but every now and then you see something and think "I'd actually prefer that if X detail was slightly different" and low and behold when someone makes something that is very similar but with a different X detail I'm not going to suddenly say "No actually now I think it's shit because it's too much like something else I like"

I just don't get why not enjoy all the options without getting wrapped up in some weird sort of "who did it first" politics. I mean shit it's not like Rick has never made a design that's clearly derived from an existing thing.
