Just over 4 years ago I got some Clark's desert boots because everyone on /fa/ was going crazy about them. It was a great purchase, I was the first person I knew who had them and was seen as a trendsetter in my area (thanks /fa/). I've used leather ointment to make them look new when they get rugged, but there's a hole wearing in the sole now. I'm deciding between getting another pair or something else since literally everyone has desert boots these days. I do think they're still stylish and are a great staple in my outfits. Should I get the same ones, or is there a foreseeable cool shoe trend on the horizon? Ok essential shoes thread go

I like it when fa was all about menswear, raw denim, dessert boots.

Now fa seems to hate those with a passion.

that was exactly the time when I used to go on 4chan and /fa/, back in 2011. I check on this place every once in a long while but not like I used to. Ahhh raw denim and desert boots, those were the days :)

I'm a 23 year old college student. I dress like an adult sometimes and have some dress shoes. Other times I dress like Mac Demarco minus the overalls.

it was also a time when people got legitimately excited when an h&m opened up near their house and inspo threads were filled with sartorialist posts

those were dark times and we're better off the sooner we forget them

early 2011 there weren't any h&ms in my entire state, now there are 5, all within a 30 mile radius o.o I'll admit I loved it at first but then realized how cheap the clothes were, I think it's okay now

I'd probably get a pair of derbies. Solovairs are cool if you want something less formal.

Or you could resole your cdbs.

I've thought about resoling, but it's expensive and I might as well get new boots. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll look into them

early 2012 I left to japan on a mormon mission, was there until 2014 focusing on that. I've visited 4chan a few times since returning, but it just doesn't feel the same, I browse reddit more nowadays, they're pretty friendly generally :)

lol. 7 people total that actually 'joined' the church, but I made a lot of friends and discussed philosophies with a ton of people. Met people who were searching for meaning in life and found it in the church. Helped alcoholics quit drinking, smokers quit smoking; had a lot of amazing, personal experiences. There were many people who didn't necessarily want to join (and thats ok!) but enjoyed the community. Kind of a strange thing to post about on 4chan, but hey!

My old teacher back when I was like 9-10 left on some Christian (can't remember what bransch, but he was pretty hardcore) mission to Ghana. Got himself and his wife stabbed after like 7 months.

Circle of life, and all that.

that's crazy, and sad... how did you find out they died? were you close? My best friend went to Ghana the same time I went to Japan. Missions are crazy when you think about it. I'm going to bed now but this was fun reminiscing and shiz.
