Only the Cetaphil cleansers appears to have parabens in them (and not the moisturizers).

But no need to worry. Cerave (also with parabens) and Cetaphil products are among the most recommended products by dermatologists.

This issue has been brought up the past:

>The Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR) reviewed the safety of methylparaben, propylparaben, and butylparaben in 1984 and concluded they were safe for use in cosmetic products at levels up to 25%. Typically parabens are used at levels ranging from 0.01 to 0.3%.

The above was re-evaluated in 2005 and left unchanged.

>FDA believes that at the present time there is no reason for consumers to be concerned about the use of cosmetics containing parabens.

That sucks fam. My acne was very similar to yours and around the exact same area. Here's the exact routine that has been clearing my face very well in case you're interested.

AM
-rinse with water
-acne.org 2.5% BP
-Sebamed clear face care gel (it has no oils and isn't greasy like creams)
-Biore Aqua Rich gel 50+ sunscreen

PM
- Cerave foaming cleanser
- Paula's Choice 2% BHA
-acne.org 2.5% BP
-Sebamed again or if my skin is too dry, I'll use some regular Cerave cream but as little as possible.

I also eat as little dairy as possible.

Hope you find something that works for you.

Different poster but not loosing my acne either...
I already took these pills that have all this side effects etc. (Idk how they are called).
It almost cleared my face, but my skin is still shitty.

My chest and back still are full of acne.
I already went to a very good dermatologist and I may be doing another smaller therapy with these pills to get the rest away.

But ofc i dont wanna take more than is necessary because I am afraid that this time maybe i will have more side effects than just dry lips and skin. I am especially scared that it may affect my hair.

I havent tried other things so I will change my diet. I am vegeterian and I dont drink shitty soft drinks or fast food, I drink water and tea, I eat whole grains etc.
But I eat a lot of dairy and since it is very unhealthy, especially for the skin, I wanna go vegan.
There are a lot of vegans that report of losing acne after going vegan.

What do you guys think? Anyone has some experience here?

- the exact times are hopefully just approximations. I hope that you're in fact flexible, and much faster than the schedule allows. the schedule in the doc seems to only apply to a NEET with all the time in the world, who also lives alone.

- the bodyweight fitness stuff seems good though.

- I see no reason for you to use an astringent on the face. It works by drying your skin out. Seems a bit counter-intuitive when looking at the rest of your routine.

- you do not need whole-body 50 SPF sun protection unless you're going to the beach. you only need to apply that on the face. You also don't need to apply any SPF at all in the evenings.

- don't use a mouthwash with alcohol (if that's what you're using).

as for the diet, the proportions just seems completely unrealistic. you need more variation in the diet. the calcium supplement seems quite arbitrary. what if there's some mineral/vitamin that you require more? a proper diet shouldn't require multivitamin supplementation.

required water consumption is highly dependent on weather, activity levels, salt consumption, body weight - et c.

also, sorry for being EDGY
having a morning/evening routine at all is great.
it's more than most people have.

Doesn't look like herpes. It also looks too inflamed to be a wart. We can't be that accurate about this online, though. What happens if you poke it with a needle?

>>10557509
Prick one of them with a sharp needle (see the "Popping pimples" guide to do it safely) and then report back here. You should be able to destroy the bubble, and extract the dark spot. It should then heal without recurring. Try it in only one spot before doing it again.

So I'm in the market for a new exfoliater and moisturizer.

I have combination skin, my cheeks and the inner creases of my nose get extremely dry while my forehead/t-zone gets fairly oily.

I very rarely get pimples but I do have quite a lot of blackheads on my nose, cheeks and chin. But particularly on my nose.

Salicylic acid appears to do nothing for me but I'm currently using the Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser and St. Ive's Apricot Scrub. They've been okay but I need a toner, exfoliator and moisturizer. I was just wondering what your suggestions were.

from what I can read online, Phisohex appears to have a pH of 5. that's still mildly acidic, and shouldn't interfere with (cancel out) the salicylic acid.

salicylic acid has several benefits to the skin (like exfoliation and anti-inflammatory effects), other than just lowering the pH of it (helping skin barrier function + makes it harder for acne bacteria to grow).

nice trips

I'm not sure if you're referring to any of the cleansers by Cetaphil, or any of the lotions for the face. Of course you shouldn't need to use multiple cleansers.

But generally, a cleansers + a toner (such as the salicylic acid) + a moisturizer is a good combination.

How often you're going to use all of the stuff depends on your needs. If you've got issues with acne, then you should use the cleanser and the toner more often.

If you've got issues with dry skin, then you should not use the cleanser as much - but try to use the moisturizer more often.

Cleanser: 1-2 times daily.
Toner (salicylic acid): 1-3 times daily
Moisturizer: 1-2 times daily

Your skin will generally tell you what you need to do.

Body shop skincare is shithouse. Tea Tree Cleanser feels nice but has colours and fragrance which can be very irritating. Exfoliant in same line dissolves so quickly you may as well just be using cleanser again. Toner you have to shake up every time you use it, which wouldn't be so bad if it actually did anything. Moisteriser again did not do anything, didn't moisterise very well either and I had to follow with a separate sunblock. The company is aimed at girls in their 20s trying to "get closer to nature", they do nothing, quite simply. The only product of theirs I would consider buying again would be the cleasner, as it's refreshing and cleanses very well, but I could use MAC lightful cleanser and get the same experience without the irritants albeit a bit bigger price tag (It's totally worth it, though, but it's always sold out).

>>10564493
I don't like when people make this statement about pores having or not having muscles, really shits me. The skin itself contracts or relaxes and along with the skin itself contracting, so does the pores. Imagine it like stretching a sponge, the little holes get bigger when you stretch it and smaller when you compress it, it works exactly the same way.

>>10565428
Hopefully you went 2.5% if you're starting off. An important step for BP to actually work is for you to leave it on for 10-15 minuted before aplying moisteriser. I promise you, it will make a huge difference, the BP needs time to bring oxygen into the skin. Wish somebody told me that when I started using it.

>>10567186

>>10570313
As long as you sleep enough, moisterise your eyes carefully (by patting, not rubbing) and don't have bad eye circles through genetics, you should be fine. But quitting smoking will definitely help if you have any other skin concerns like ageing (smoking speeds that up).

Do you mean like blackheads? In which case, honey and cinnamon cleanse.

>>10572565
Work on your skincare routine, or post it and let others help you. If it's perfect, you wouldn't be getting acne. As for makeup, BB cream won't conceal acne scarring or acne, you need to purchase a non-comedogenic concealer. I'd recommend Proactiv's two-in-one, but it's pricey and you have to pick your colours.

>>10572591
I'm in the same ballpark as you, kind of. I find frequent exfoliation and making sure to avoid touching the area has helped significantly. I'm more or less just waiting for hormones to settle down more before I bother doing anything else. Don't have the time and all.

>>10572742
Heavy moisterisers can sometimes break you out becasue they clog the pores slightly before sinking into the skin. Make sure to get anything with SPF and labelled as "non-comedogenic" or "non-acnegenic", I'd recommend Cetaphil's DermaControl SPF 30 Oil-Free moisteriser.

Otherwise, use a preshave oil (I use Taylor of Old Bond Street - Sandalwood) followed by a moisterising shaving foam (Maybe something with Eucalyptus in it for razor burns) and followed by cleansing, toning, using an aftershave balm (alcohol free) and then moisterising. Why do some places refer to acne scarring as hyper-pigmentation, while others as straight up scars?

I have "mild-to-medium scaring" according to my derm, who rec'd me to a laser surgeon. He said it would require about 3-5 profractial laser treatments to get rid of about 80% of it (it never goes away 100%)

I obviously can't afford that right now as a college student, is there anything that would help? I've read the sticky and r/sca or whatever it's called but it seems like they rec AHA and BHA for "Acne scarring" but the acne scars theyre referring to are just PIH.

Also, not looking to derma roll

Ayyy /fa/m looking for some fresh insight in terms of diet-acne correlation. First of all I'm curious about how long you should keep at a diet before you can tell if it has any effect on your skin? Right now I've drastically cut down on dairy for about a week. I realize that there are a lot more factors that could intervene but I'm trying to keep other factors as stable as I can (getting enough sleep etc).

Right now I've been on some topical acne meds for about a year. Before that I tried like four different meds with little success. These ones seem to be working sort of okay, but every now and then I get weird breakouts, like on Friday I woke up with three pimples without having any in about 4 days. I wash my face twice a day with SebaMed Clearface facewash, it's a pretty nice product that doesn't dry my skin out.

acne scars are the pits in your skin acne sometimes leaves. hyper-pigmentation are red spots.

some places just don't know the difference

>>10587079
dermatologists will tell you diet and acne don't have a correlation other than if you eat greasy foods, you'll get grease on your fingers and acne when you touch your face.

I'm skeptical of it, too. I'm in uni, so I have access to a lot of peer reviewed papers and decided to search through it for "diet and acne. It seems there's a good chance you're correct.

it seems that whether or not acne and diet are related is controversial and there are studies which suggest high-glycemic foods may play a role, along with milk-based products.

here is a paper I found which argues in support of the low-glycemic load theory and the dairy correlation that is also available to the public:

quote:
>Since diet has a direct impact on insulin levels, which further influence IGF-1, IGFBP-1 and IGFBP-3, diet has been proven to play some role in the pathogenesis of acne.

so it seems that high-glycemic foods affect the production of IGF-1 which is correlated with acne because of androgen development that affects sebum production.

if you've had recurrent cystic acne, then you should have tried more things than salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide. you could, for example, try topical retinoids - as well as antibiotics.

... but most people with recurrent cystic acne consider that stuff to be a waste of time in retrospect. most wish that they got started on Accutane sooner. a low dose (a lower dose than what is currently prescribed by most GPs) is less likely to cause severe side-effects. most people consider the results to be worth it.

>>10587618
>it seems that whether or not acne and diet are related is controversial

yes, ish. it used to be a lot more controversial, but as multiple new studies on it emerged the tone has changed somewhat. old derms + GPs are slow to react to the news, though.

good routine
some "minimalist" input:
- the epiduo is optional, and should only be used if you still have acne issues
- you could get by with only washing the face once daily
- only sunscreen could work in the morning, since some can act really moisturizing

>>10591719
sunscreen does not need to be applied every hour/every few hours for most people.
the sun exposure they get is quite low since they are indoors most of their day, and they don't sweat too much or get themselves wet.

for outside activity though, in the sun, it's worth re-applying at least once.
outdoor exercise (sweating), swimming (water exposure), sunbathing (extra sun exposure) - calls for sunscreen to be applied every couple of hours depending on
- how much sunscreen that is removed due to the physical activity
- how much of the active sunscreen that is broken down due to UV exposure
- how much clothes you're wearing
- your skin tone

>>10592019

I added a moisturizer to my skincare routine and my skin has been burning when I use it.

some resources have said that this is somewhat normal and should subside after a week or so, but I'm curious as to whether or not any of you guys have had similar experiences.

Your moisturizer really should't burn you.
Get another one.

Which one did you try?

Any wrinkle fixes or skin tightening type things that work and are affordable for a uni student? I'm getting pretty irritating forehead wrinkles. I try not to raise my brows too much but I'm fucking human and I have emotions, so.

130lbs, pretty fit with a tiny bit of chub on the abdomen but I've always had a round face. Could the fat on my face be contributing to wrinkles also?

Any help appreciated.

In Seoul? Ask a qt girl around Seoul City or Gosok Terminal underground mall. Or anywhere, really. Busan? Haeundae.
There's cosmetic shops literally every 10m. It's hard to say really, if you can find a store attendant that speaks some English (or get a friend to translate) they're more than willing to help.

I use it on my face back when i was getting pimples every other day while the old ones gtfo and holy shit this thing works miracles.

lel. genetics, dehydration and the sun is causing early wrinkles, not the faces you make or too much fat.
moisturize sufficiently and use good SPF daily.

it is for minor acne, but should not be put directly onto the skin - but when I get a nasty spot i dab some pure oil on a cotton pad and apply it directly onto it which will dry that fucker out overnight.
I also put it on my herpes. there are lip balms with the same effect but not as harsh.
One time I overdid it though and my chin needed more than a week to recover from flaky dryness. essential oils can be dangerous, be careful with it.

>> No.10598283

your skin tries to make up for dry skin by producing more oil, that usually happens in the T-zone of forehead and nose. physical scrubs add to that, stop doing that.
you need to find a good moisturizer. ask at a pharmacy for some samples and use with caution as you might be allergic to more stuff. they usually hand samples out like candy if you mention sensitive skin and being a poor student.
i'd usually recommend acids to ppl with acne or someone starting to get wrinkles, you didn't mention that. you don't really need that much peeling if your only problem is dryness/oil. once those moisturizers work the flaking might stop anyway.

didn't fully get your sentence, do you mean getting acne again? a lot plays into that but bad products or products your skin doesn't like will cause acne. that doesn't mean to adhere from everything just because your skin might break out.

I use every other night if I get a lil family of black heads (usually on my nose) or once a week if my skin is coasting along nicely. It can be be sneakily abrasive; you don't have to rub that hard. I always follow up with Kiehl's midnight recovery concentrate.
