Thinking about copping LL Bean gumshoes

Don't want to make the same mistake I made two winters ago and buy doc martins-- not warm enough and a little too edgy for me

The consensus online seems to be that ll bean is your best bet for sub 150 boots that actually keep you warm while looking moderately good

Palladium literally has there own stores in malls.

I went in one at the mall this week.

Honestly I was so hyped for the palladium tacticals, because they looked so awesome online, and /fa/ hyped the shit out of them.

They were just really bulky at the top, and they were not streamlined at the top and looked autistic as fuck in person. Not to mention they were sway shorter than I expected, I guess online I just saw a lot of manlets wearing them, because I expected them to be taller.

Overall I was so hyped, and they were just a big disappointment.

Clarks is a good brand for boots. I'd recommend finding a store and trying shit around for a bit as they tend to run rather big. Please do not wear desert boots for winter.

>>10535420
Good straight out the box, you might want to get a polish/conditioner depending if you're looking for a more vintage look or a more put together look.

>>10536819
Get some isopropyl alcohol, say 70-80%, soak a sock in it, and then wear the boots for a few hours. The alcohol weakens fibers around tension points and works extremely well. Make sure you don't have cuts on your feet. It's an old trick people used to use when they were issued combat boots that were too tough.

Look, at the end of the day if you really need a work boot go get a timberland boot and water proof the fuck right out of it. It will be a disgusting shade of camel and look like a work boot. It will also be comfy and keep your feet safe and dry.

If you want a boot that gets a nice antique look to it, consider beeswax boots as their age does make them look better or more worn. If you polish them, you're going to look rather strange.

If you want to go absolute top shelf, you can splurge and spend almost a grand on cordovan dress boots made by some old Spanish bastard.

It's all about a middle ground.

Alright, then it all becomes the occasion.

Like in the C/N thread, someone posted

http://www.clarksusa.com/us/mens/mens-view-all/Montacute-Lord-Brown-Wlined/p/26103808

Or maybe the tanned version, I don't know. They are dressy enough in person that you could wear them to a middle tier occasion. Not to a wedding or a business meeting, but to a formal event.

I had a pair from way back in black, and they're comfortable and decently lined. This is a midtier dress boot.

http://www.clarksusa.com/us/mens/mens-view-all/Dargo-Rise-Black-Leather/p/26110929

If I was putting in the same money would probably buy that instead. It's less dressy, I might not be able to wear it to work, but I also feel that it looks more casual and workable on the day to day.

With a weather guard, these are both serviceable for the winter as long as you don't live in like Finnish Lapland or something.

Well, for leather you can use a cream that has a water repellent and this extends the life of the leather and keeps your feet dry.

For suede and canvas, you can use an alcohol based spray to repel water. You can also use this on leather, but it's works for a shorter period of time. You can also weather proof jackets, hats, bags, that sort of deal.

Get a pair. I recommend you buy a leather version; it's a much higher quality product with only a minimal increase in price.

Don't worry about it looking too chunky on your feet; the toebox is rather small but not uncomfortable by casual wear standards, so it cuts a fairly narrow silhouette for a boot. They fit true to size, but not too tight.

Size 11 US

My foot is 11 in. long and 5 in. wide and these feel good if maybe ever so slightly loose. If I wore socks that were thicker I'd be okay.

The SFB socks that they have are good and fix the slight size thing, but they're a little bit long and go past the top of the boot by about 3 or so inches

But they are the only boots with the foldable leather on top, I can find, ships to Norway and doesn't have stupid zippers on the side.

idk man depends on what youre using them for

if you just want some cheap fall boots im currently rocking a pair of leather steve maddens and canvas palladiums, dont expect them to last that long but if you alternate between pairs of shoes and take good care of them they'll last a couple seasons at least

based on my university tho it seems like palladiums are the next meme normie fall boot; i bought mine like a month ago thinking i would be cool and edgy but just today ive seen like 2 pairs of them and three of my friends bought a pair this week

for winter i'm looking at timberlands for some nice conservative boots, and maybe a pair of those waterproof chucks cuz i think they look cool even if most people don't

>> No.10549573

nah, 1000 miles are trash. You'll get some form of loose grain creasing because Wolverine wants to use every square inch of the leather even if it's trash, the leather soles are terrible for any increment weather and worst of all they can't even resole their own boots.
