Ask /fit/ and Google around. People here wouldn't run even if a fuckin' bear was chasing them.

That said, I have a pair of Saucony Kinvaras that work pretty well for casual running. I only do sprints to build up my VO2 max, so no clue how well they hold up for LSD running.

Yeah, it's sad that people here think looking skinny means not eating. The real key is eating a ton of salad, drinking a lot of water, and running every other day.

I run everyday on sidewalks/street and I have the Nike Free Flyknit 4.0s.

They were like $80-90 so maybe save up to get them. I wouldn't pay over $150 for running shoes unless I was doing more serious running

If you really want a good running shoe, you're going to have to risk aesthetics. Everyone has a different foot, so purchasing a good running shoe based on what you read off an anonymous image board is not going to get the right product.

Asics are heavier with most of them having a lot more cushion, assistance, and support. I think that's what I'd go with if I were running 5+miles. For daily training you definitely want to go with a nike free.

Long distance runner here. Have been running half marathons for the last four years. If you are planning to do anything over two miles don't bother with anything Nike. Even anything more than one mile I would not recommend it. Nike has very nice looking shoes that work for the gym or shorter distances but they are not made for LSD runs. The best looking shoes for LSD running for guys would IMO be Asics. For girls it would be Brooks. I can't personally vouch for brooks, never owned a pair but I love their female shoes and the I know a few people who have had them, they all liked them.
Now personally I dont care how I look when I'm running, because I'm going to be hot, sweaty, and tired anyway. My go to brand is Saucony, pretty basic in terms of looks but really comfortable for my long runs. Don't get me wrong, Asics are great, I have owned a few pairs and they are great quality, many runners I know swear by them and they are my 2nd favorite brand, very close to Saucony, its just comes down to my own personal preference.
TL;DR Nike is #1 for aesthetics, Saucony is #1 for performance, Asics is the best middle ground between the two.
>pic related
my current pair but mine have red instead of green on them.
Hope that helps, if you have any other questions about shoes or longer distance running I can try to answer them.

This is the best approach, I wouldn't worry about it. Exercise isn't really aesthetic by definition - if you're not looking disgusting by the end of your workout, you're doing it wrong.

Really? I'm a forefoot runner and I can't run in anything but minimal shoes because excessive heel cushioning forces my running style to change and feels very unnatural. I'm 173 cm (5'8'') and 59 kg (130lbs), I've been running 8 km (about 5 miles) on asphalt every two days for over two years now and I have never experienced any kind of knee pain.

Go to a running store and try some shoes and buy what feels best. This is the only way to really know what works for you. Everyone is different in what they value in a running shoe. I've owned asics, brooks, nike, adidas, new balance, mizuno and hokaoneone. In my opinion asics and brooks are the best, while nike and adidas make the best racing shoes.

>> No.10527688

>>10527618
What shoes would you recommend then? I really don't want to have to change my running style from forefoot to heel strike. Are there shoes that provide enough cushioning for running on sidewalks but still allow a natural running style?

I've been very happy with my nike frees so far :/

Brooks is the best selling running shoe brand in the country. Nike makes shoes for all kinds of activity. There are going to be several that are just fine for long distances. Just don't buy a cheap, shitty one. You really made a lot of baseless claims here, man.

I've ran cross country and track for 6 years. Don't run in Nike's. Seriously, don't. They make ok running flats, but I doubt any of you are looking for anything like that. They're all super overpriced and super shitty for you. Just stop caring about your image while you're exercising. You can wear all Nike tech shit if you want, but just go to your local running store and get fitted to some Saucony's or Mizuno's. It's going to make a world of difference in the short and long run (lol)
I ran in Nike free run's literally one time in high school and it fucked my knees up for months. It's just not worth it. My current Mizuno's are this blue and yellow ugly as sin colorway, but my last pair were these black saucony's with little tints of yellow and Chinese writing and were actually cool as fuck.
