can anyone recommend decent black chelseas in the 200$ price range? with a slim silhouette

I got asos ones as my first pair, super inexpensive and the quality is what you'd expect from $100 boots. Only bad thing was that the silhouette, whilst being slim like I wanted, was actually really ugly because the toe box shape was strange.

I'd recommend buying an inexpensive pair for your first pair just so you can experiment and decide wether or not you actually suit the style, and if you decide you really like it and suit it save up for a higher quality pair. That's what I did

I can probably post pics of them if you need

and i feel as though putting an elastic band (which looks ugly with wear and tear) on something that is supposed to look gorgeous with age and wear (leather) detracts from the inherent design principles of a leather boot

if you go cheap on these the toe looks sloppy as if it needs a toe cap and they just left it off.

I agree, the elastic band is a design flaw, but it also contributes to the minimal aesthetic by eliminating laces. I assume you can have the elastic replaced if it gets stretched or damaged by a competent cobbler. But yeah it wears like shit. Could be worse, you could be a Qasa's fuccboi with your entire foot rapped in that made in china shit.

im going to tell you why, generally speaking, all chelseas are dog shit. now listen carefully. think about anything you own that has eleastic, be it gym shorts with elastic waist, socks, elastic t shirt necks. what happens to them eventually? thats right. eventually after years of use, the elasticity wears out and they become stretched out and warped. chelsea boots are not immune to this. the elastic side panels eventually (after several years) will without a doubt become stretched out and lost their shape and the boots will not fit right anymore. no chelsea boots are immune to this, not even slp's . its just a natural consequence of the flawed design. the moral of this story is, be a grown-up and don buy slip on boots, buy boots with actual laces that you can adjust over time as the leather changes. hope this helps you clueless people.

chelseas can not and do not have side zippers. a chelsea boot by definiton has a gussette.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chelsea_boot

Chelsea boots are close-fitting, ankle-high boots with an ELASTIC SIDE PANEL. They often have a loop or tab of fabric on the back of the boot, enabling the boot to be pulled on. The boot dates back to the Victorian era, when it was worn by both men and women.

the thing is that those represent the basic aesthetic of the chelsea boots, bblack suede could pass as unpolished black leather and beige leather could pass as regular tan suede, there no real point outside of detail

the thing with the skinny jeans is that they show off the boot itself, if it were straight or slimfit it would cover mor the boot and there would bee no point in wearing them

i agree with the top, i wear bombers instead o coats and leather jacets in summer, it looke like something straight out of The Smiths
