I'd like to ask for advice from anyone who can offer it.

Today was the day my tees came in, I am /1997/ and inexperienced with how this whole business thing works.
Started designing shirts not long ago, gave a preorder opportunity to my friends if they wanted one. Five people paid $20 for me to get them an undersc_re shirt, and with those profits I just bought two more shirts, as many as I could afford with $100. I have these five for specific people, with certain sizes. The other two have other uses, one is to be put up in an art contest, and one I will keep.

I am using social media heavy on this, I guess my next step is to take pics and push it hard. Any suggestions or advice you can offer me? I am a broke high school senior and really like doing this, what should I do to continue this?

Pic related, it is from my instagram where I am pushing all of this.

Maybe buy some IG followers to make it look semi professional

Dirty, I don't like it.

I could get photogenic people to give me shoutouts maybe. People with many followers.

well I'll tell you what I'd buy that tee right now for like $20-30. There's gotta be some kinda online webstore service where you can have people sign up for a buy and then when you know how many are signed on you get them produced.

>i am a broke high school senior
you won't make it
it costs a lot to do this
especially if you're not buying the blanks at a wholesale price
your design is simple enough for just one screen so your roi from the cost of having that made is decently predictable
this needs a lot of money
and printed tees are very hard to get running
you're better off saving your money and creating better graphics while building your brand
get other people to pay for your shit
you can't do business without money
and clothes aren't cheap to get done on a small scale

I actually made a redbubble account, but I need to activate it and link a bank account and paypal I do not have.

They are $20

School is a unique opportunity, the whole person to person aspect is good, if you have enough influence. I know how screenprinting works, I will do the emulsion process and do that soon for my next print.
All in all, do you guys like the shirt, and do you like the instagram page I am running, do you think I could attract people with it. Since I firrst posted, three people have contacted me about this, I think it is doable.

@hack_blastard ig, don't have to follow, just look.

you don't fully realize how this stuff works
the shirt is trash
the instagram page is trash
your brand's page should not also be used as a personal page
i should not be seeing selfies and a puppy on the same page of a guy trying to sell me a t shirt
graphic tees are an oversaturated market and your design is not strong enough

but puppers are cute.

I am very cautious about moving over to a company page, because I don't know if this will work out, and I use this username for many different things. I may need to focus on just working the undersc_re name.

But I understand if you don't like it. Opinions are welcomed.

no you really don't get how bad of a marketing scheme that is
it'd be better for you to get rid of personal photos on that account so you don't lose your followers, and make a new personal account

wait, so let me do the math on this one. If you can get 7 printed for $100, they cost you $14.28 per T shirt. That's a net profit of $5.72 per shirt. On top of that you have the overhead of storage, website operations.

Look as an investor there's just not enough in it for me, so I'm out.

very bad. redbubble is not professional. 110 ig followers tells me that a social media based campaign won't reach many people, which is probably good because that means less people will see this crappy shirt.

it's derivative, boring, and relies on people wanting to have "undersc_re" printed on their chest, which they probably won't want because it's not an established brand but instead looks like someone's steam name

its not a joke, your shirts are shit, youre a retard and should kill yourself. the 5 friends you somehow managed to get are the only ones that will take enough pity on you to pay money for this garbage.

nah nigger, you are disrespecting my otaku brand.

It is simple, I came and asked for solid advice because I like drawing things then seeing the, physically, not because I think I am a designer, or because i think I am special, but merely because i had fun doing it. I asked for solid advice from you people and got standard 4chan idiot responses.

Best advice goes to the guy who told me to buy followers. Solid.

I just want to fucking make shirts, you are memeing my thread. You're toxic. Offer helpful advice or real criticisms.

you have a better chance of going pro in league of legends than you do at making more than 50 bucks off the absolute trash youre trying to sell

with the 10 mins youve been shitposting in this thread you could have mowed your grandmas lawn and made 30$ (a bigger profit than 5 of your tshirts LOL)

you can't just write off criticism as shitposting just because it's harsh. (>>10455580) had a good point.

A good logo seems vital nowadays but the most successful brands built themselves on quality, which then gave the logo meaning. interesting tee designs (aka not just logos) can help too

Less than 200 followers isn't much and word of mouth advertising at your high school shouldn't be relied upon as your primary advertising campaign. as soon as you're out of high school, you'll understand why - high schoolers don't have much money yet and aren't "cool" unless they're already famous

It just seems like an overly ambitious attempt without proper research, experience, or knowledge. You should consider working at a streetwear boutique and gaining experience in the field and then you can throw yourself behind this 100%. That's what James Jebbia did

No, that was shitty advice to a shitty person. The fake followers will not increase your reach as much as likes will do.

If you're only making $5 a shirt, it's not really worth your time or effort as anything more than hobby. Who is making the shirts? You'd be wise to find a good printing company, or even better a local one. And you better market yourself better than you are now, get stickers, put them everywhere. Whatever you can to get your name out

Brand thread? In a similar situation as OP but I'm a bit more serious with my designs and I'm going to be printing on AA basics.

So what I've learned from this is that, nowadays, the quality and design of the shirt itself matters more than the graphic at this point if you're going from scratch (i.e., no making shirts with band lyrics and icons on redbubble)?

I'm not OP, but I'm always kinda curious about this stuff.

>> No.10461876

You could probably get by with just unique and cool designs. Only a small group of people are going to be able to tell the quality of the shirt as long as you dont use an absolutely shitty base. A lot of people have pretty bad eyes for what is cool or/and are copying old trends which is retarded.

OP seems to just have completely stolen a yung lean shirt which you can already buy for $12.00
