Abingdon backpack from J.Crew. Had it for a year now and it's been perfect. The leather looks better after being worn in. I'm probably going to switch to using a Harwick briefcase soon because I get all my textbooks on my laptop now.

Are Fjallraven's clothes good? I'm pretty impressed with this backpack and I would love a nice jacket made out of the same type of material and they have some stuff that looks pretty good. Unfortunately their clothes look like pretty serious stuff for brutal Arctic winters, so it would probably be overkill considering I experience about 3 weeks of mild Texas winter.

Look at fabric as the priority when looking for a bag
Waxed cotton, waxed canvas, and ballistic nylon are gonna be your best choices
If you're short on cash, Patagonia and Osprey make bags out of lower end nylon and parachute material that are waterproof but pretty uncomfortable to wear on long treks

I have a Mission Workshop bag that has truck liner on the inside....it won't even drip if it's filled with water. Not a bad idea to invest if you really spend a lot of time in the rain
