Your point? Thats not a lot for a cashmere scarf. Any mongoloid in my city wears Burberry scarves which is hilarious considering the atrocious quality of them. If you didnt know: Burberry cashmere is trash and the way most of their scarves are woven is bottom of the barrel tier. Basically like all the shit this embarassment of a label sells.

>> No.10399378

>>10399321
Just because you have wealth doesn't automatically mean you know the quality of what you are buying.

The statement was regarding wealth not related to quality. LV, RL, Burberry and lots of other famous top tier brands charge a lot for some of the products they sell just because it has a special label on it.

A majority of the neuvo riche mofos no very little about the quality. Take the arabs in london for example; My mates sister works in harrods and is always going on about how they always want the limited edition LV stuff with the label blatantly plastered all over the product not caring about the actual quality of the product. People who have class and have been accustomed to the fine details of quality wouldn't be so quick to buy a lot of the shit some fashion houses sell.

The point is that rich people who care about expensive shit wouldnt buy Burberry but something like Loro Piana. I dont even expect them to know Colombo etc. But Loro Piana is very, very well known. Burberrys scarves arent only bad, they arent even expensive unless you but Prorsum, which are so expensive because of seasonal designs. Or hell, buy fucking Hermes. Overpriced as fucking cashmere as well but the brand certainly has a significantly better reputation than the workwear trash that is Burberry.

Just seeing anything of that junk label makes me go mental. I simply cant fanthom how this shit company is still in business.

>LV must be making a bomb though no wonder one of their shares cost 100 euros
Every single one of these conglomerates makes bank because they sell with ridiculous profit margins. Simply checking designer profits can tell you who does and doesnt sell shit quality. Kering, which is the holding behind Gucci, Bottega, YSL for example made 1.2bn in profits last year. Thats more than 12% of their revenue. Basically the same applies for LVMH (LV, Dior etc.) which made almost 4bn in profits.

>> No.10399525

Me and my mate were discussing some brands that have been going downhill lately and have their labels tarnished by the degenerates that wear them. (Im not a posh cunt or anything and actually grew up surrounded by hoodrats)

gucci, LV, Ralph polo range and versace all have their shitty belts worn by benefit sams chicken mofos even if they are counterfeit.

But at the end of the day 'money knows money' with regard to people with class will be able to tell a quality cardigan even without its label showing, like one of ralphs purple label range.

if ur ever in london fam lemmie hook u up wid dat 33% harrods discount so you can get dat Burbryryryry scarf u get me fam??!?!one

>> No.10399567

>>10399525
Worst part about Harrods is that I can get all the shit they sell for 30% discount simply by not paying their ridiculous GBP premium. Like, seriously. Almost all the stuff they sell is overpriced due to shit conversion rates. Then again, LaneCrawford is an even bigger offender. Okini went full retard recently as well but right now I think that it might not even be Harrods I was talking about but fucking Selfridges.

>gucci, LV, Ralph polo range
Well, to be fair: RL polo range is the cheap version of the label. Its explicetly being sold for poor people. Like Paul Smith London, with the Mainline collection being light years above all the other trash in terms of design, quality etc. Or Burberry London, Z Zegna etc. Most brands have these bottom feeder labels of which they make so much fucking money due to outrageous profit margins.

However, Gucci and LV are so retardedly well known for luxury goods that they dont even need these sort of subsidiaries. Then again, LV also sells backs for 500 bucks so even poor people can afford it. Real quality and luxury isnt known. Best example are watches. Most people probably think that Rolex is the best shit you can buy for money.

No they dont. Rolex is bottom of barrel tier in terms of high end quality. Any 'cheap' watch made by Patek, A Lange, Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin gives you significantly more for your money than any Rolex.

Its a shitty meme lifestyle brand. Basically like LV, thats why its so popular. Retards think its the best of the best. Rolex is as close to being the pinnacle of watch making as LV is to being the pinnacle of tailoring.

He responded to a post in which I specifically pointed out how a lot of people who buy high end brands dont even know that the brands that they are buying arent even high end. I pointed out watches as the perfect example because most of the people who buy Louis Vuitton probably also think that Rolex is the pinnacle of watch making.

Thats what my post was about. Just because this little imbecile jumps into an argument saying 'lyl bud thez gud 4 prizeraynge' doesnt mean that the shit he spouts holds any value whatsoever. If he jumps into a discussion he should stay on topic. Theres literally no merit to me saying that Casio produces a good watch for its price range when thats not what the argument was about.

But to make a counter-point, only people into horology to some extent would know of PP, AP, A Lange, and VC. None of these brands have the marketing of Rolex. And to some degree in the public eye, that makes them the best. Just like how some people would consider F.P. Thats the point that my innitial post was making. What makes stuff great is marketing. Thats why the kid in the OPs pick is wearing a Burberry scarf. Its marketing. Anyone with the slightest knowledge of cashmere processing and accessiblity of <14micron fibres will know that Burberry scarves are fucking garbage compared to several alternatives. The guy could afford the best but settles for shit because, thanks to marketing, hes under the impression that what he owns already is the best.

Then again, this shit applies almost all people out there, especially the poor ones. Probably why Beats by Dr. Dre actually sell.

>> No.10403015

>>10402985
That's true, but you need to be informed to avoid being a victim of marketing. At some point researching everything becomes unfeasible. That's part of the reason why people settle for brands like Rolex. It's not as good as the marketing team claims it is, but it's not an objectively bad watch. So people settle because consumer choice causes more stress than just giving in to trends and marketing.

The JLC I posted earlier can be bought for €2000-3000, almost brand new, with certificate, box and all.

This is accurate. I went to private schools all my life and I could immediately tell which kids are lower middle class kids struggling based off of how thought out their outfits were on free dress days. The super rich kids didn't give a fuck about fashion since they had nothing to prove.

I know those two.
They're not wealthy.
The girl goes to Southwestern Community College in San Diego.
This was probably taken on their honeymoon.
They're Muslim.
I don't know anything about her husband tho, but I can tell you for sure that they're not wealthy.

I don't see how any of this can be accurate.

Nobody stays rich by frivolously spending all of their money on expensive clothes. All the rich people I know just dress normally.

The way I see it, this is nothing but a stereotype perpetuated by the media to get you to buy into the fad and spend your money on stuff you don't need to make someone ELSE rich.

Whenever I see people dressed like this, I assume that they are just trying too hard.

i agree with everyone who replied to this post.
Despite being the most commonly known 'luxury' watches, Rolex does have a strong pedigree, which is what people are buying into.
Yes, most of their watches aren't commonly in the 50k price range that most Pateks and etc are, but they have time and tested watches, as well as a significant history in producing consistently impressive innovations in watches

It seems like watch enthusiasts go through three stages when it comes to Rolex:

Stage 1: I LOVE IT, BEST BRAND EVER

Stage 2: It's FUCKING GARBAGE compared to the holy triangle PP, AP & VC.

Stage 3: They make good watches, even though there are better producers out there. At the very least Rolex can take pride in doing so much of the work inhouse.

Guys, the thread is wealthcore. As in wealth, not riches. There's a difference. Chris Rock said it best:

>Shaquille O'Neill is RICH. The old white man who signs his checks is WEALTHY.

No, new money is a culture, but old money, the kind that is passed down generations, is.
