A lot of folks are tired of the quality from Nike and Jordan Brand over the past few years. Plus, I think it's generally easier to pull off a preppier look when you aren't wearing retro Jordans or foamposites. I agree that most of the dad shoe silhouettes are boring as fuck but I suspect it also has something to do with almost all the high fashion sneakers looking like the low top silhouette pictured above.
