is this true?

>> No.10395491

>>10395487
partly
it just depends on the label

>> No.10395557

no

The pieces ARE meant to be worn, not in the specific way theyre styled on the runway but some of the pieces are simply props

>> No.10395561

wow what an insight
I guess patrik ervell would look so retarded outside of runway

>> No.10395577

>>10395557
this, kinda
a lot of it is just art that is supposed to be the background pieces
say a collection has 50 pieces
buyers order from them and they'll mainly order, let's say, 30 pieces
from those 30, the company looks at the order volume and anything that is deemed not profitable or does not meet production minimums gets tossed out
now the stores getting the clothes next spring will have around 12 of those actual pieces

tl;dr not everything is produced, and anon is right, you don't wear them like they're styled for runway

Agreed

Although I rarely see any flair'd runway pieces posted on /fa/ unless they're related to a small subsection of socially acceptable "weird dudes" that make black clothing. Not like they're hard to get either, at any budget.

That would be fine if you don't wear the headpiece.

>> No.10395878

kind of true ... the runway outfits are mostly artistic and if you are ballsy and rich (say a celebrity) you can purchase them and wear them out but after the show the designers will make toned down versions of the runway outfits which would be sold off in their shops and worn out in public (I kind of know my shit I study art and design and I hope to be a designer myself someday)

>> No.10395896

>>10395878
they don't make toned down versions though
where did you hear that?
i'm studying apparel production and that definitely isn't what goes on
good luck with becoming a designer
such a small career availability

yeah it sucks and i'm not getting my hopes up i'm trying to keep my options as open as possible I know I want to work in the creative industries I would suck at everything else (i'm 19 and i've been fired from 5 jobs because i'm so awful at everything) and i'm actually really scared because i'm looking at art schools now as it is my last year of college and i'm scared because i have to pick a specialist area and i'm not sure whats right for me and I learned about that on a separate fashion course I was taking within my college alongside my art and design course but thanks for correcting me :3

>> No.10395913

>>10395909
(>>10395577) is what actually happens but yeah
i'm not artistic enough to design but i can do it if necessary, which is why i decided to head towards the production and management side

and yeah choosing to go to fashion school and opting out of doing engineering or pre law was def a scary decision

not gonna lie, looking at where this industry is going does have me sometimes regretting the decision

if you can get into a decent fashion school near you, i would definitely do it

just make sure the programs teach you how to make patterns, grade patterns, and drape, as well as sew

That was such a nice show, loved it a lot.

As for OP: Yes, as far as "major population" goes. That's where from you get "This spring thin silk scarves are back in fashion" ; "Denim jackets are making a come back!" and "Large sunglasses are back in fashion!" bullshit spouted all over the female magazines.

On another hand, yes a lot of clothes are meant to be worn, but it depends on designer/label. Sometimes you'll have a hard time finding certain pieces compared to others.

For example: "holy grail" napoleon jacket from Dior is extremely rare compared to Dior famed jeans of same season, even if we are to compare jeans, black luster ones are much more rare than basic raw ones.

You can just take Burberry leather stuff, especially when they make croc stuff, it's just barely few pieces for sale.

This slipped my mind, but think how ridiculous the statement is. The hell are you supposed to wear after you took the inspiration?

Chinese knock-offs? ZARA shit-tier replicas? Mass-produced mall trash?

Does he think high-end labels sell fucking tickets to their "fashion shows" and don't sell the clothes and live off it?

I don't get your problem, it was a good show with great atmosphere and a lot of character as well as was presented in a unique way, not to forget it also befitted New York (where it took place at).

Yes it is true.

Although that doesn't mean you're not allowed to wear them. Most buyers buy them for the "collectability" and to a one-of-a-kind unique piece that no one else possesses.

That being said some fashion shows are definitely more conceptual than practical, and some are more practical than conceptual.

It's strange when people understand an art exhibition for paintings or sculptures, but for some reason when you throw in fashion in the mix it confuses people. We call them plebs.

no its not. or only partially

its mainly about art. fashion shows are art shows. theyre to show off artistic talent of the company/designers and build prestige so people will buy their other stuff eg perfumes, jewelry, etc

but there are different levels though. above only applies to high tier. h&m does fashion shows too and theyre certainly showing clothes that youre supposed to buy and wear
