I've not noticed it getting particularly hot. At least no more so than the GS3 I had before it. Only had lag once, and it was when I was playing music and was trying to change from my GoPro app, which is resource intensive. It's been very solid.

Kills me that Verizon is my only option where I live otherwise I'd go in for one when I visit. If you're on Verizon there's really only the Sony Xperia or the Iphone, at least for current models (I guess the HTC One is probably the best, but it's what I have now and I hate the damn thing.) As a previous Android fanboy I don't really see Apple as "behind". The ultra-customization of Android grows stale and boring at some point. I'm at the point where I just want to use my phone,not worry about rooting it and making it as personal as possible. Behind? No. Different? Yes. I still have my One M8 and I love it still, but I definitely have grown bored of tweaking it constantly. I just "use it" now, if that makes sense. There are some features that definitely are very nice, but nothing too groundbreaking, honestly.

Windows phone doesnt have all the frills of apple or android, but the design is really clean and it does what it can well. Same phone for 2 years and it functions the same as the day I bought it. It is the AK47 of phones, simple, durable, reliable, minimal. Some love it, some hate it.

Smartphones as a whole are very normal.
It's the attitude of people who buy iPhones that most people here don't enjoy.
I work retail selling phones actually and I understand the benefits of iPhones for some. But the people that buy them are very normal and often not very smart.

Normal in the sense that they know better options exists but refuse to consider them because they don't want to learn.

Normal in the sense that they get flustered and confused, almost offended if you discuss other phones or talk about the technical specs of what they are buying

Normal in the sense that they come in to buy the latest model but don't even know what changes there are.

I think this is an incredibly astute observation. The Android ecosystem used to be a bit overwhelmingly silly in terms of the degrees of customization it required - and a lot of the customization really wasn't required for the average user. That, in conjunction with some shitty carrier-specific apps, made for a weird experience for most.

iPhones are more or less plug-and-play devices. They suck in a lot of respects, particularly data management, but they are almost idiot-proof. By way of example, the fact that you can't change fonts is limiting, but prevents unnecessary bullshit changes to cursive and the like, and it keeps the UI relatively standardized.

That said, I currently have an iPhone and get pissed off at it regularly - it always seems fuckin' impossible to just drop music or videos on it without going through some convoluted shit on iTunes.

I never said it was better, I said it wasn't terrible, which it isn't. It's clearly a good OS, otherwise phone companies would develop their own OS to meet consumer demands, but Android does the job for them.

That aside, I do think Android is a better OS, but not because it's more widely used. I really value the expandable storage, the customization options, and being able to drag and drop files onto my phone, all of which are features absent from the iPhone. If you want a phone that you can plug in and use, then I can see why you'd prefer iPhone.
