I've started to notice a lot of 30+ year old men wearing selvedge jeans turned up at the bottom. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that and I do it myself but they seem to be buying jeans with a leg 4 inches too long and rolling them up high as fuck... let me shed some light here:
these are raw unsanforized denim made by a company named samurai. it is a relatively small company and they can't afford too make denim with both variyng waist AND variyng length. so they keep the length fixed at about 38" on all waist sizes.
the reason they do so is because you can always hem denim but you can never make them longer.

they guy in the picture just bought this pair and is posting a fit pic before doing an inital soak. those are unsanforized denim which have not been treated and thus they will shrink after washing.
the reason he have not hemmed these yet is because he might want to return the denim if they are too tight pre soak (because you can't return after soaking). also it is better to hem denim after intial soak then prior, thats because the intial soak will shrink the length roughly 2 inches so it is better to do alterations after getting all the shrinkage out.
