What is it that defines brood-core? The observant eye sees that the real center of brood-core lies in the way the subject carries itself. It's not so much in the clothing and accesorizing as it is in the facial expression, the posture or even the eyes of the subject.

True brood-core lies in a contemplative gaze, a predestination for a basic and minimal outfit, mostly in muted colours. The brood-core chooses to spends it's time overthinking life, the future and the choices made in the past. The brood-core always finds a way to re-evaluate itself and make itself a very common, a very contemporary style, no matter what age it manifests itself. The brood-core never dies, it merely sleeps in dreamless and, yes, deathless slumber.

The same way as the brood-core is not bound by time, it is not bound by space. It is everywhere and it is nowhere. It is embedded in the fibre of the human psyche, yet it is not prominent for those not open to it.

From the jungles of South-america, to the cobbled cities of Europe, to the busy intersections of Asia, to the vast plains and tundras of The North or North-America. The brood-core is there for those who seek it.

Be it inspired by the vastness of mother earth, to the cramped and cooped up sensation the urban environment brings. The brood-core manifests itself for those who wish to see "behind the scenes" and past the spectre of human progress.

More than anything, the brood-core is a universal and filosophical stram of consciousness. It is everytime, al the time as much as it is nowhere, never.

It connects those who indulge it just as much as it sets those same subjects apart. A room filled with the disciples of the brood-core could just as much be an empty room, an empty planet. The brood-core opens the mind while it closes it. It reaches out a helping hand while it shackles the feet.

The brood-core is answer and the question. It is the solution and the problem. The brood-core is all and nothing.

The status quaestiones remains vague though. What is the true brood-core?

Inspiration is many and scarce, as it lies in the eye of the beholder. Yes, as it lies in the brooding of the beholder. There is no definitive answer as every question, even the question as to what the brood-core is, requires deep and timeconsuming contemplation.

The initiative inspiration lies in auditive and visual sources. Films as Jungfrukällan, Aguirre Wrath Of God, Zerkalo, There Will Be Blood, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Control. Even documentaries hold certain value. Hearts Of Darkness, Shoah, Blackfish, The Act Of Killing are all suggested.

The literary works of H.P. Lovecraft, Joseph Conrad, Kavka and the likes all hold veritable leads to the brood-core. My expertise isn't realiable enough to make further suggestions.

Musicwise, the brood-core listens to cold and distant music. Early postpunk, ambient noise music, drone, musique concrete. Each holds value for those who seek the brood-core.

For those open to it, the brood-core will find it's way.

If anything, the brood-core is a way of life and not just a way of clothing. The brood-cre takes everything or nothing at all.

So beware once you reach the threshold, the way across is easy but the way back is near impossible.

To conclude, Brood is no core, no wave, no style. It is just what it is, Brood. No poses, no exaggerations, no labels, no crutches and no prosthethics.

The Brood is what it is.

I think Vince Vaughn's presentation of Frank Semyon in this season of True Detective was the true embodiment of Brood.

He dresses in understated but detailed clothing, sharp yet muted. As if he wants to blend into the background but at the same time wants his presence seen. He wants to be the watcher and not the watched.

Meanwhile, his character tries to break away from the past, lead a life that he deams "normal", "legitimate". The past however keeps catching up, because he let's it catch up to him. He still isn't certain if the life he planned out if the right choice for him. The Brood keeps all options open and thus allows the ghosts of the past to come back.

Frank Semyon surpresses every emotion, at least that's what he want s to have you believe. As if he's in charge, both of his business as his life. It is obvious however, just how much the Brood has taken of Frank's psyche. It has taken over so much, it show in every move he makes.

He is there, he watches, he thinks, he acts, he thinks again. The Brood is all for Frank, to his dying moment. He lives for and because of the Brood.

Matthew Mcconaughey's character Rustin Cole, on the other hand, was viewed as the true troubled soul of season one. The character that doesn't sleep, he just thinks, all day, all night, always.

He, however, still worked towards a goal. He had the case, all those years, he worked towards the case. Rustin was never truly enveloped by the Brood.

He was merely on a sublevel of Brood where he was still in control of his life, however messed up it turned out to be. He didn't make plans, he didn't think about his own path. He merely worked towards the goal, the case.

Compared to Frank Semyon, Rustin was merely an amateur in terms of the Brood.

It's not even about depression. The Brood is not about feeling sorry for yourself or even feeling bad. Depression is somewhat of an endstation, a terminus. The Brood is not an ending, it's a process. IMO it should spawn with 2 tokens, and get +1 token during upkeep if it has less than 2 tokens.

When it attacks it spawns 2 1/1 broodlings tapped and attacking with 1 token each. Remove 1 token during upkeep, if there's no tokens sacrifice the broodling.
