Bomber jackets were made for pilots so I feel like you can only call it a bomber jacket if it's made for those conditions. So it's more like a coat: made to withstand cold weather, durable materials, zippers, etc. Of course there are also some more characteristics like the tightly fitting collar and waist.

Most people who say 'not sure if bomber' usually post garments that only have that snug collar typical to bomber jackets, which, I feel is too little to call it a bomber.
