What's off about your pair is the contrast between dirtiness and age. It looks like a newly purchased shoe covered in dirt (apparently used to cut the lawn), whereas I think you're going for something like pic related, with both age (story) and dirt, ergo beater, distressed, cool, whatever.

Just let your clothes organically age, don't force it. Or if you really want it now and not later, try thrifting and wearing other people's stories (not a bad thing).

Im on holiday and I foolishly only took 1 pair of shoes (>vans) with me, and I slipped in a creek and soaked one of the shoes. Im meant to be going out for dinner tonight, and no stores in the town have any footwear available, the nearest town that has shoes is 30 minutes drive away but driving there isnt practical rn

Will it destroy my shoe to wash and dry it in a washing machine + dryer? As in, will it still be wearable after?

Make sure there are other things in the wash so it doesn't get too beat up, and do medium temps max in both. A lot of glue holding that together and high heat will melt it.

No. Basic sneakers can be washed and dried. They will obviously take a bit of a beating, but they're freakin' Vans, just do whatever with them.
