Does /fa/ approve of suits?

An actual formal cut suit with a tie, only for work
casual suits if you rock #menswear or have fun with it and don't do the normal swag is for boys schtick

Depends on the occasion. A lot people (like me) are obliged to wear a suit before visiting clients. Suits are pretty awesome but don't wear em when the situation doesn't fit it, cause you will look like a try hard really fast.

I think that would depend on how big and esteemed your employer is. Wearing a suit is not a necessity at some law firms because they are small and casual but a lot of big ones will give you shit for promoting a bad image.

I work in tech too. Don't wear a suit to the office, you'll look dumb. But do wear one when going to clients, just for showing that extra bit off respect. Some banks our company did jobs for wouldn't even let people in their office without a suit.

Jesus christ the comments in this thread. How fucking self centered are some of you clowns that you seriously think your opinion regarding casual suiting matters?

Also: why do you all talk like high school dropouts? Someone mentions his job (which obviously is a lie, because a 23 year old would never talk like that) and you respond with 'welcome to the club boy :DDD'.

Fucking christ.

Just wear suits casually. No tie, a striking shirt, derbies or boots. Thats what I have been doing for years. It sure as hell doesnt look formal.

Depends on the shades

Navy pants with light greyish blazer works ok
Navy pants with carcoal blazer simply doesnt
Most light blue shades look retarded for pants

Blue really is tough for pants. Theres hardly anything you can wear with it. Limits you so goddamn damn it isnt even funny.

>No one in tech wears suits. Suits are basically bank teller tier unless you're 40+.
Kinda-sorta-maybe correct. Naturally, random programmers don't wear suits. Same for engineers and the like. That said, that doesn't mean you ~shouldn't~ if you are in any sort of non-gruntwork position - suits command respect and are a great way to dress well in a professional context.

Like, a well-tailored suit is always gonna feel better than some nonsense business casual crap anyway.

>But I know me and my friends would think someone in our industry dressing like that likely doesn't relate / isn't worth approaching.
I'm very eager to see the SV bubble burst and shit like this end. The whole ~we're captains of industry and know better than the white collar workers~ shit is merely a product of overinflated engineer egos. SV is propped up on a bubble of poorly-placed venture capital, and it's fuckin' pets.com and webvan all over again. The second this bubble bursts, all the autists in California are going to have a very unpleasant future.
