what do you enjoy about the city? i live in small city of about 400K, and it's more than enough. of course we don't have as many cool restaurants and bars, but i can't afford those anyway. most of this place is a dirty nightmare. weather is shit, nowhere to walk around and really enjoy the day, nonstop traffic. this may vary on location but besides easy access to groceries and plumbing without a septic tank i wouldn't miss it

Queens here. It's boring and there's no real interesting cultural presence whatsoever, but it's a lot less tainted by mega-corporate tourist bullshit. Still sorta run-down, more in a charming way than a gross or unsafe way. Train service is shit, and rent is slowly becoming astronomically high in comparison to what most people make. I really wish there were some good contemporary fashion stores but there's next to nothing.

I try to force myself into Manhattan from time to time (on leave from college because of reasons) but most of the population has this horrible, artificial personality where they seem to think the act of being in the city makes them special. I thank NYU for that. Sample sales and places like Dover Street Market usually contain cooler folks (if not new money Asians). In the end most of it is self-indulgent cookie cutter faggotry dressed up as an "indeh" scene.

Sometimes I desperately want out, but every time I go somewhere else I hate it even more. Help.
