Grew up in Europe, so I've traveled a bit.
I used to move a lot, so I never had a permanent sense of "home" (the longest I ever lived somewhere was 5 years, and that's when I was really young). The way I create my sense of home now is by putting pictures up. It just adds a sense of intimacy to the room/house/dorm that makes it feel more personal. Pictures help remove the "temporary" feeling of wherever I live.

lol. you don't know what you're talking about. bedbugs will hide in any furniture, and they will get in places that are nearly impossible to inspect.

they can all come in new furniture too but the chances are exponentially lower.

unless it's some ultra-hardwood like hickory, and unless it was carved from single piece of wood, and unless you sprayed that shit down before you brought it into your home, then yes.

you need all three of those conditionals met.

if it has any joinery at all, it's susceptible. if it's not a hardwood, it's susceptible to burrowing. it only takes 1 egg attached to the furniture somewhere to potentially wreck your shit.

Hey fags, I'm shopping for sheets and a comforter, but I'm not sure how to go about it.

Basically
>metal bed base
>light wood floor
>dark espresso desk and bookshelf

What color sheets and comforter should I go with? I'm thinking a light grey would look good and wouldn't get as dirty as white.

Any recs where to get this stuff? I figure the bed skirt needs to match the sheets, but it seems like a lot of the nicer budget options for sheets don't have a bed skirt option.

I think the most obvious thing it needs is a really, really bold color on the walls. The white is awful. Something bright and summer-y, but that goes with the slate floor. Yellow might be an okay choice, though it might be a bit girly. Same with a lighter green.

Part of me thinks a gray would go well, but it'd be VERY dependent on the gray.

You definitely need a small table and two chairs in the nook on the left. I'd do something black and iron or MAYBE a wood that matches your cabinets.

Also, get window treatments.

Go with a warm toned gray that's slightly darker than the gray tiling for some contrast. A cool toned gray also works if you want something to contrast against the wooden cabinets.
Maybe put a slim bar-style table in front of the windows so you can stare out creepily at your neighbors as you sip your morning coffee.

In my opinion it isn't a good to be "fashionable". Fashion is a fleeting thing, with styles changing over decades, and trends changing by tomorrow.

I was discussing what it means to be timeless with a friend, and I think to be timeless is to ignore all trends and look to design aspects that have survived the decades in regards to shape, form, outline, colour, etc.

To be timeless also means there isn't a need for the endless acquiring of objects as the things you buy 2 years ago will still be aesthetically relevant today.

I feel like I am en route to achieving this, as I have only felt the need to buy only a few items of clothing the past year and half.

Pictured is my wardrobe.
