Think about it this way: You wouldn't actually wear "lunarcore" clothing to the moon. It's just INSPIRED by sci-fi and actual space travel.

In the same way, "intellectual-core" (really a bad, clunky name, honestly, I'm sure there's something better, like "scholarcore") is about dressing in a way inspired by academics and thinkers of the past and present.

In the same way that nobody actually thinks wearing lunarcore prepares you for space travel, nobody actually thinks that dressing like an academic will make you one—and if someone does, that person isn't worth taking seriously, anyway. I really don't see the problem here.
