How high do you wear your pants, /fa/?

I've been losing weight and progressively getting more /fa/. I'm starting to think about the proper way to wear my pants. I've always had trouble with pants unintentionally sagging or never fitting me correctly, and I'm finally starting to realize that wearing pants at the hip is incorrect. The waist is supposed to be slimmer than the hips so the pants sit comfortably and don't fall. The belt shouldn't need to be tightened too much to keep your pants in place, and sitting down shouldn't fuck your clothes up.

Am I the only one? Does anyone know how I can go about getting higher-waist pants?

You are not the only one, though I wouldn't recommend it.

Lots of old people wear high-cut pants, you could always start where they'd shop - mall stores and shit.

Why wouldn't you recommend it? Is it too anachronistic? Too fedora-y?

not necessarily. some trousers are designed to sit at the hip. low rise pants, they are a relatively modern invention that derived from early 2000's womenswear and they suck ass. you can never tuck your shirt in them.

nowadays it's rather difficult to find good mid or high rise pants. but they still exist.

a lot of the original trad/prep brands make okay chinos and whatnot. j press, brooks brothers, ll bean, lands end. also dickies 874, bill's khakis, etc.

of course the fit on most of those is rather traditional but mtm options like luxire and indochino allow you to tailor the pants to your proportions and pick the exact rise you want.

jeans wise there is of course the classic levi's 501 (lvc does nice repros of older models and related jeans like 606s), wrangler 936s, 13mwzs, or 36mwzs, american apparel, japanese repro and raw denim brands will do a lot more of these as well.

i haven't covered all the bases but that should give you a good idea of what you're looking for

Will do. Does anyone have any inspo or whatever? I'm just looking around google and it's not very helpful. Something like this looks like it would be more comfortable. Although I'm not used to seeing such a short torso, it doesn't look bad.

I've also read that a lot of companies push for low-waisted pants/jeans to save money on material. Is this true?

well let's see. it will visually lengthen your legs, but also shorten your torso. that can be a good or bad thing depending on how you're proportioned. i'd say try it out.

Not to sound like a 'born in the wrong generation' kid but why were pants consistently higher up until very recently? Was it rap/nigga culture in the 90's?

some big designers put that shit on the runway, celebrities started wearing it and it caught on. no real rhyme or reason it just kind of happened, like most trends.

>> No.10288372

>>10288351
Yeah but I'd say it's more than just a trend. It's the norm. Just like high rise pants were the norm back in the day.

Not that everything was perfect, of course. There are some really gaudy color schemes in the imgur links, and bowlcuts galore.
