i haven't been able to find a lot of fit pics of any military parka because all the pictures are taken by /k/ types actually using them to hunt in the woods.

that said the appeal of a military parka is in its outdoorsiness contrasting with whatever trendy urban stuff you have underneath it (black skinnies, a jumper, whatever). so imo just wear it with the epaulets for awhile and see if you hate them as much as you think you hate them (i usually hate them too but i'm willing to see how they look on a military parka). if you absolutely can't stand them just seam rip them.
