What I said was mainly in reference to the shirt and the jeans. Most people (myself included) would through on a white hanes in this fit and call it a day. But the shirt has solid perceptible construction, has a interesting visibly apparent texture as well as the whole semi-transparency quality. The jeans are well fitted and in a nice dye.

Either of these fits, Gentry's styling is fantastic.

Like any other art form fashion is all about the small details and subtleties. The thing that makes an album great is not the catchy tune or the in your face riff, it's the hidden harmony or beat in the background that you probably overlook on the first listen. You know theres something special about the song but you don't know what until you really listen to it.
The same applies for fashion. Sure it might look like a black pair of jeans at first but the way they stack might be different or there might be a small contrasting detail.

That being said I don't really agree that the one he references is a good example.
