I don't really see many hobos wearing leather boots and tailored trousers. Maybe it's just a function of SF, but most of the hobos I see are in tech-swag castoffs (branded hoodies and tees), way oversized sweaters and coats, dirty jeans, and beat up chunky sneakers like New Balance and Skechers. Kind of cool if the hobos in your town dress well, though.

I used to dress basic because I was fat and lonely. But now I have a girlfriend so im just fat. So for the past 9 months I've started to dress like a social outcast: oversize everything + rick on my feet. It's sometimes hard when people give you dodgy looks or when nobody wants to sit next to you on the bus, but you get over it. I have like 3 friends and only one of them is interested in fashion at all, so its also quite hard when one of the other 2 says you're not allowed to come chill with his other friends at uni because your black asymmetric drape cardigan makes you look like "a dementor from harry potter". All in all I feel like continuing to dress for myself and follow my dreams.

In an ideal world you should dress for yourself and other people be damned!

But that world doesn't exist, the truth is if you want to get laid often, network effectively, have a decent social circle you should dress in a way which others will enjoy. Don't just wear what you think others want you to wear because you will come across as a phony but wear generally accepted items with hints of your own personality woven in.

When in doubt, be conservative and let your personality carry you. It is better to do this than to look like a school-shooter like 80% of /fa/

If you dress for yourself, you will be more confident in your fit.

If you dress for others, you'll always worry how they feel about it.

anecdotal I know but I have seen this in my time at uni.

For reference I dress in a subdued preppy that fades into post-punk at times. When I wear my favourite fits at uni I get nothing, I am just some weird guy in a lecture. Then I wear the most basic shit ever: henley, chinos, loafers, this was on a morning I gave 0 fucks and that day I have a Chinese girl sit next to me in lecture, we talk and I get laid. I kept wearing the same sort of shit and it kept happening (not getting laid every day obviously, but networking was a breeze). And so my wardrobe is basic prep shit and I am happy
