Hi /fa/.

My bf is Asian, a bit of a brandwhore, and likes brands like Kenzo, APC, Acne, Margiela, Moncler, Lanvin, Alexander Wang, kit+ace, and some of the high-tier stuff like LV and Hermes.

I'm trying to find an item I can get him within a $100-300~ range. He wouldn't be happy with something that costs more and would likely demand that I bring it back.

I really want to get him something memorable that he can wear all the time, so I was thinking a bracelet or a light jacket for fall. Unfortunately most of the brands he likes don't make those items in a $100-300 range.

I'm thinking of getting him a Moncler polo. He likes stuff that shows off his body and it'll be nice for Fall.

It's a shame that your boyfriend conflates made in Asia cashmere that's less than 10% cashmere made by Lululemon with Kenzo, Margiela, and Lanvin.

I'm just naming brands he's into. I don't think he'd put them in the same league. To be fair, I have some Kenzo stuff and it's not that nice.

+1 on this; Kenzo is not even close to the same league as Margiela and Lanvin.

Polo is ugly and basic, buy him something like a Thom Browne shirt - they're $330USD for a plain white or blue.

Probably better to tell us fits he wears, with a brand list like that he could have any style and so there's not much point suggesting anything because he could straight up not like it.

CDG PLAY perhaps?

We both wear masculine, basic clothes. We do not dress like fashionistos.

For example, we've spent most of the summer wearing polos (Brooks Brothers), cotton shorts/chinos (Brooks Brothers, J.Crew), and white leather sneakers (Damir Doma, Ami).

During the Fall and Winter, we slim fit jeans and trousers (Jeans: AG, A Gold E, Nudies, Trousers: J.Crew, Ami, Paul Smith) and like hi tops leather/suede sneakers (Damir Doma, All Saints) for a dressed down look and various casual shoes for a more dressy look (not even going to bother listing brands; tassel loafers, oxfords, etc.). We have basic T-shirts in various tones we wear to give a clean palette to more "loud" jackets we have (Margiela bomber, Acne leather jacket). We also like to pair more casual tops (e.g. A black Reigning Champ pull over) with dressier pants (like heather grey trousers). In terms of outerwear, I like wearing topcoats and parkas, and he likes wearing modern sporty coats, like Canada Goose and Northface.

We don't go for more "avant-garde" silhouettes, and everything is wear is pretty fitted and slim, besides a few oversized tops we have (which is always pair with slim pants). We do, however, tailor our pants to a no break hem and always wear a slightly higher hem than most men (not at "cropped" levels by any means, but still contemporary compared to most men). We dress to match out bodies, as we're both pretty muscular.

I don't know why I wrote this entire post using "we", but me and my boyfriend are pretty similar and share a lot of our clothes.

How about buying him a dragon dildo, because he's obviously a DYEL faggot.

Neither of you dress very fashionably then and I don't know why you're on this page. This is for fashion and you both just want to wear boring clothes. As I suggested - just get him a plain Thom Browne shirt or something similar. I can't recommend much else because I don't keep track of the labels that make dull clothing. Maybe blow his socks off and get him some black jeans?

>Neither of you dress very fashionably then

/fa/ is a fucking joke.

I post on WAWYT threads all the time and I receive overwhelmingly positive responses besides a few pretentious fuccbois who complain that I'm too basic and boring to be well dressed.

You do realize that well dressed men almost always stick to basics, right? Men who are thought of as stylish and fashionable for their entire lives stick to classic styles and pay just enough attention to contemporary trends to wear clothes that are cool, effortless and stylish without looking garish and tasteless.

What does fashion mean to you? I named a slew of brands from several spectrums of fashion. Is Margiela not fashion? Is Paul Smith not fashion? Is J.Crew not fashion? Is menswear and tailoring not fashion? At what point does clothing become fashion for you and why does my style of dressing not meet your standards?

The thing you're getting wrong here is that the WAYWT thread itself is a joke. Nobody well dressed ever posts there, I've browsed this board casually since 2011 and its' rarely been good apart from a few trips.

Well dressed men, people in general is subjective to each individuals taste. Models are suggested to stick to basics because it draws attention to their already good looking features which makes them nice to look at. Average and below average people don't need to follow this rule and are free to express a lot more.

The men who are voted the best dressed in the world just wear mediocre fitting suits, the majority of the people alive don't care about actual fashion.

You say Margiela, but you mean RTW plain items. Paul Smith isn't the same level, and again you probably just mean simple things like a pair of Paul Smith jeans, rather than his 3 piece red rose suit. J. Crew is fast fashion - Dries Van Noten once said that it's not possible to make a good quality garment for $50 when you include quality material cost, labor and distribution. Fast fashion is a waste of money.

Quite aware actually. I'm saying that in a sea of absolute garbage, my outfits didn't look cringe-worthy and shit.

>Models are suggested to stick to basics because it draws attention to their already good looking features which makes them nice to look at. Average and below average people don't need to follow this rule and are free to express a lot more

Completely disagree. Above average people look good in everything. Below average people look somewhat off all the time, especially if they try to dress avant garde.

>You say Margiela, but you mean RTW plain items
No shit dude. Do you know how small the list of people in the world who wear runway clothing is? Do you think designers think their runway outfits are the height of being well-dressed? Are you seriously this pretentious and clueless?

>The men who are voted the best dressed in the world just wear mediocre fitting suits
Once again you have no idea what you're talking about. The men who GQ awards best dressed have stylists that know exactly what compliments their clients and dress them accordingly. Everything is tailored perfectly to these celebrities. Fashion is subjective, but to imply these clothes are "mediocre fitting" is absolutely ignorant of tailoring and menswear

>Paul Smith isn't the same level, and again you probably just mean simple things
I own a Paul Smith blazer that's shiny sharkskin in a teal tone, but that's besides the point. Most of his shit is basic with cute little twists. His "out there" designs are usually outliers in his collections and probably sell horribly, existing mostly to market his brand image. I don't know why you think these are more fashionable than all of his other clothes.

You still haven't answered my questions about what defines fashion. I'm not saying J.Crew is amazing, but I'm asking you how it couldn't be defined as fashion.

All of your points have completely glazed over my original questions, and I can tell you why; you're pretentious, clueless, and have no idea how to answer them besides completely unraveling your basic, juvenile conception of fashion.

I didn't post in today's thread. I rarely post. I only really post when I have a new interesting item (in this case my shoes) and want to try them out. This is beyond a joke, it's so basic and inoffensive. There's nothing fashionable about this, it doesn't look like it took any forethought at all.

There's nothing fashionable about you, keep your entry level opinions to yourself and buy your boyfriend a plain white tee to match.

Dude that's not what buying nice clothes is all about. Some people just want to look basic but buy things that are nice. That's what I mean when I think "nice clothing"- you look at the subtle construction of nice clothes and appreciate them, not try to garner attention to yourself by being a total fashion killa.

Because you're dead set on your own opinions and don't know what you're talking about. You're taking GQ as a credible source for fashion information as a starting point. As well as leaping to personal attacks as soon as information comes in that doesn't match what you already believe.
