there's another jacket thread, but all the jackets are too light, too high fashion, or just generally retarded. moving to montreal in a few weeks, need to buy a winter coat. i've looked at stuff from fjallraven, canada goose, and the north face, and so far i feel like the canada goose chateau parka or the fjallraven greenland parka are the best for me. can anybody recommend me some others that i can probably buy in montreal or give me any input on either of the two jackets?

Fjallraven makes good shells. Buy one and layer up. Though they have one or two really heavy parkas that are nice. Also look into Filson, Nigel Cabourn, Carhartt WIP, Woolrich. Maybe Aether or Veilance if you want something more technical.

I have a Topo Designs mountain jacket and just layer with it with a puffer vest
Barbour Bedale has a removable liner (and removable hood)
Norse Projects Nunk is a very classic looking jacket
