Funny, just like most clothing, summer just doesn't have as many interesting options IMO. Most of my favorites are colder weather scents. And living in LA, we really don't even have real cold weather so I have to wing it.

What are some "unique" scents that are actually good?

And by unique I mean it has notes that are a bit different than what you would find or lesser used notes. So like weird shit such as ink or aldehydes, or lesser used citruses and florals.

also, why are many niche fragrances so fucking expensive?

This is true, I feel like although the cold weather can get dull at times, I still love having all 4 seasons and don't think i'd enjoy living in a place with no season changes year round. Winter smells are the best though because they feel more complex and less one dimensional than summer/spring scents.

Fahrenheit is famous for having a "gasoline" note. It isn't listed as an actual note, but I do get wafts of something similar from time to time.
Terre d'Hermès has a flinty or mineralic note that I can't get enough of.
Encre Noire while it doesn't have an "ink" note listed, also implies something like it.
And I get a tar note from A*Men.
These are just frags I own, love and am familiar with. You can find some really wacky notes out there if you look. Semen, blood, rotten notes etc.

And >>10238480 basically got it right. Sure like any smaller manufacturer, the less you produce, the more expensive the cost per unit, and yes, there is a "natural" and "hand made" premium, but let's face it: Puredistance and MFK aren't advertising to the masses, they want to create a mystique that rich people will go for.

If you have her go through a dozen tests to get the dose right, it could. But still, not a dependance to you, only to a drug, so a lack of nicotine would feel to her like something is wrong, not the need to call you.

But the first guy is on the right path: let her associate your smell to you, then spread it around, and she'll surely be thinking about you. You could also touch her shoulder, put some specific music on play... anything you can have her associate to you, and whenever it'll happen, she'll think about you.

It's very easy to influence people that way.

Bvlgari - Black: Rubber
Comme des Garçons - Odeur 71: Metal, Ink, Bamboo
Comme des Garçons - 2: Ink
Comme des Garçons - 2011: Industrial Glue, Brown Scotch Tape
Blood Concept - Pretty much all their scents have Metal
Comme des Garçons - 8 88: Metal
CB I Hate Perfume - Everything he makes; Includes: Pebbles, Seashells, Roast Beef, Dandelion, etc...
Etat Libre d`Orange - Everything they make; Includes: Popcorn, Gunpowder, and other weird shit like semen, blood, saliva, and other stuff.

Lots of CdG there, only because they're very unusual with their scents others they have can either be just "alright" or weird in it's own way. Like "Play Black" smells like straight up black pepper. "Sherbet Cinnamon" obviously just smells cinnamon-y and is more safe.

Whilst you should ALWAYS sample a fragrance before you buy it, if you try to blind buy ones like these you might get fucked over. Because trying to like some of those is hard and requires a certain person. CB I Hate Perfume is generally safe, albeit I would make sure you realize what you're getting to. Love his scents, if I could have only perfume from only one perfumer it'd be that guy.

Here's a tip: don't be an autist and ask your friends and family. I bought a new one recently and applied two sprays. Two hours later I met up with a friend and asked him what he thought. He could barely smell it while sniffing my chest, so now i apply slightly more. This isn't rocket science.

Okay, one spray on each forearm. Why forearm instead of wrist you may ask, well on your forearm there's thing thing called hair. Hair has oils and more surface area. You spray the perfume on it so it could stick better to the hair and oils. And one on your neck so you could smell it as well and also when your girlfriend (if you have one) could smell it when she gets close to you during intimacy. Sure you may ask "the wrist has heating points". Well put your lips on your wrist then your forearm. Do you feel much difference? Maybe like 1 degree apart.
