Overall, decent public transport provision, variety of cultural/interesting activities, bustling music scene, diverse (in a number of different senses), will never explore it in its entirety. Main issue is cost of living.

Haven't been to Paris in time, but can speak for Berlin. Been a number of times, learned German during education, have a number of friends who either have moved there/plan to move there.

You can do all the same things in all large EU cities. Berlin is far more relaxed, better public service provision, cost of living is something like a third less. Depending on taste, arts scene is arguably superior and more accessible. Has better weather and has better urban planning due to post-War reconstruction. Berliners are nicer as well, in my experience. I might move there if London keeps degenerating socially/politically.

Probably the main thing London has is its sheer size, as no other large EU city really comes close.

Yes the employment prospects of Berlin are perhaps what makes me hesitant to completely relocate. Industry is mainly focused on tourism, arts and certain service sectors. London has everything in one place; Frankfurt has the financial sector, and manufacturing is spread across Germany.

I'm meant to be going to Hamburg at some point in the future. Word is it's just as nice and vibrant as Berlin, except the port and links to other parts of Germany and Europe means it is a stronger city in terms of development and economic longevity. I'll make a judgement if and when I visit tbh.

Hamburg is fucking expensive as shit, though. Berlin is a lot cheaper in general. Both great cities. But it's weird that the "smaller" big cities in Germany are all more expensive than Berlin. Try finding a decent flat in Frankfurt, Hamburg, Cologne and Munich. It's hell. Leipzig is pretty cool as well, though.
