Is this a thing now? I see such wide legs a lot for the next season (F/W 15/16).

I mean, it's about time skinny jeans died, but this looks a little extreme. Too nxtlvl4me. Maybe in some years...

the 70's is making a comeback this season for womenswear. I'm not too sure how it is with menswear, but for women the skinny jean is really starting to disappear, being replaced by the mom jeans, boyfriend jeans, flare jeans and bootcut.

I'm seeing more girls in asia wear non skinny jeans. Lots doesn't fit to be honest. Its kinda funny seeing really small women wear jeans that gets wide at the bottom.

They're already pretty dead. In fact they have been for like 2 years, note that the hipster spray-on skinny that started the trend is unwearable today.

Also, pretty much all designers are leaving the low rise skinny behind, even Hedi Slimane. Don't you watch runway shows or something?

Skinnies will be the default for years to come the way bootcut was.
They're a safe choice and mums wear them now. They're going to stick around for a while yet.
They won't be anything revolutionary, but then again they haven't been for over half a decade now.

Saying they were out of style in the 90s seems pretty fucking out there. They were out of style in the same way dadcore is unpopular rn, not at all.

Perhaps between like 96 and mid 2000's they might have fallen off but the span of one generation of console is a pretty short sighted perspective.

Skinny jeans have literally been stylish since fuckin cowboys. Perhaps youre confusing skinny cut and skin tight jeans? Im wearing skinnys right now and theyre basically the same appearance as slim fits besides a stronger taper towards the ankle and less room around the upper thigh.

>> No.10226706

>>10226693
Unpopular/out of style doesn't mean no one wore them.
I see lots of middle aged women in bootcut jeans still, doesn't mean they're in style.

And even if it was the mid 90s rather than the early 90s they went out, 10 years is still a significant enough period of time. Fashions ebbs and flows like that, and it's completely likely they'll go out again at some point.

I don't know how you can be trying to argue that they've consistently been in style when that's just completely untrue.

You actually need a straight leg pair of trousers to fit the large ankle openings of cowboy boots.
Closest thing they ever wear to "skinny" jeans is slim straight.

At least get your facts straight, man.

Actually, let me clear up a few misconceptions for you guys.

From Wikipedia: "Skinny jeans taper completely at the bottom of the leg". So very little or no excess space around the ankles (as exemplified by pic related). This is the commonly accepted definition.

So using this definition, skinny, excessively tapered jeans as we know them (at least for men) by and large did not exist until the '80s (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). So believe it or not, there is actually a difference between slim and skinny.

I like both kinds of jeans for different fits.
A black leather jacket, a white shirt and a pair of slim dress boots are best paired with slim fitting black jeans, while a more wintery kind of fit with chunky boots, a cozy knit sweater and a big jacket looks better with a slightly less extreme level of tightness.
It's not rocket science.
They still have to fit, obviously, but they don't have to look painted on to look good.

It's a predictable oscillation of the style. There have been rumors of it for a while, really - just look at the uptick in baggy-fitting jeans pictures on Tumblr and stuff.

I don't really see the issue with those in the OP, to be frank. It's certainly a different look than what's usually posted here, but far from offensive. Very standard for most people.

>> No.10227353

There's a difference between a pair of jeans with a wider leg and minimal break and a pair of jeans with a ton of stacking. The leg diameter of a pair of jeans doesn't entirely determine how slovenly the jeans look. However, I am of the opinion that slimmer jeans typically look better.
