To help, if it's too flowy you can spray hair spray in it and then brush your hair with your hands which makes it kinda stiffer but still looking natural, and for the sides you can kinda grow it long enough to put behind the ear like that dude in the pic.

seems like this guy have an undercut but short on the top line, however... if you want to copy that, prepare to put a lot of gel in your hair on a daily base. Basically make locks from your hair, make the long parts stick together a bit - do that to all the long parts of your hair. It takes routine to learn to do it properly... so test it a couple of times at home, before you walk out with it.

Also, this guys hair was set up by someone els for the photo ..get some sort of mirror or cam, so you can see yourself from all sides when you put the gel in it.

Pic related is my current hair after a shower but before any products. Black and white pic in album is what I showed to my hair cutter, so that and the Gyllenhaal picture are the looks I'm wanting to go for (I like having some versatility in my look).

I was wondering what products you guys would suggest for either. I was told Hanz De Fuko Claymation for the black and white, but wondering if there were other suggestions as well. I was told to use hair oils for the Gyllenhaal look, but I'm iffy about the oils as they're not really a styling product but more of a repair product, right?

I'm trying to grow my hair long and I needed a trim because I'm growing out an undercut, so the top portion and bottom portion are still uneven...The girl who usually does my hair has been ignoring me, so I just went to Fantastic Sams figuring that they couldn't fuck up a simple trim and asked her to point cut it to even out all the hair and then razor it a little to take some weight off...And now it looks like shit, and it doesn't look like she even did anything that I asked her to do.

Thanks, it's actually not that greasy and the dryness is just a problem I've been fighting my whole life. The curls actually never used to be that well defined, I've been learning how to properly moisturize them so it's no longer the poofy fro it used to be. I'll definitely look into the coconut oil thing.

And yeah I could probably lose a few pounds...didn't think it was that noticeable...

What should I do with mine, /fa/? Should I just cut it back to short and boring? If it gets any longer it starts to curl/look messy (not the good kind of messy) and at the moment I think it just looks shit. Any tips would be great.

I usually maintain a shorter hairstyle, been growing it out a bit this summer. Top is ~ 4"/9cm long. Sides were a #1 or #2 but I haven't had a haircut in a few weeks. Prefer a short fade to the sharp hipster undercut edge, it looks much better with my head shape. Hair is naturally straight but thick and somewhat messy. I do not use gel/pomade/clay or any other products of the like.

Right now the top is approaching an awkward length. It is too short to remain rearward on its own and instead can only be flopped up and over to the side. However, it's long enough that it gets in my eyes when styled forward and is starting to overshoot the side of my head (it's closer to my ear than I would like).

I'm deciding between:
a) Continue growing/maintaining the top until it can be styled backwards more easily (a la 2012 David Beckham, Brad Pitt in Fury, Michael Pitt in Boardwalk Empire, etc.)
b) Just get a shorter version of my current haircut.
c) Something else altogether.

Constructive criticism and feedback is appreciated.
