I think most posters in this board are somewhere between 18 and 28 years old, and therefore still pretty young.
Most people dress age-appropriate, even the few people who like dadcore are still alright.

But we'll all age. I'm sure you wont wear dick owens, meme smiths and overzized black stuff when you're 40+.
How will you dress when you're ''old'' (40-89)? Will you wear the same stuff? Will you even try to be effay at all or just wear generic clothes?

I'll just look at pictures of 20th century composers and base it off what they wear. You can pull off a lot of classic stuff better when you're old and actually expected to have some maturity.

Anyone who thinks Rick Owens makes clothes for youths hasn't looked at or felt or thought about the clothes much. They have a definite, strong relation to youth, but they are emphatically not for kids.

I post this all the time, but that's because it makes it so clear what Rick's work is about, and because it's one of my favorite "artist's statements" ever:

>I RECENTLY SAW A MOVIE FROM THE '80S THAT I’D BEEN IN AS AN EXTRA IN A GOTH NIGHTCLUB SCENE. I HAD JUST MOVED TO L.A. FROM A SMALL SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA TOWN AND WAS STARTING TO BLOSSOM INTO THE EARLY STAGES OF GOTHDOM. I WINCED AT MY NAIVE AND VULNERABLE FACE TRYING TO LOOK HARD AND WORLD-WEARY.

>GOTH WAS GONNA BE MY ANSWER. IT WAS GOING TO CONFRONT EVERYONE AND DECLARE ME. I WAS GOING TO DIVE INTO A WORLD OF SIN AND EXOTICISM THAT I’D READ ABOUT IN HUYSMANS “AU REBOURS” AND “LA BAS” IN MY PARENTS' LIBRARY AT HOME. I WOULD LAY A BLACK GLITTERING TURD ON THE WHITE LANDSCAPE OF CONFORMITY.

>I DROVE A BLACK T-TOP CAMARO. THE STEREO BLASTED SISTERS OF MERCY, MARLENE DIETRICH AND WAGNER. I WORE MY GLOVES AND JEWELRY TO BED IN FULL MAKEUP. I LIVED ON BLACK BEAUTIES AND CIGARETTES. I LIVED IN A FRIEND'S STUDIO BY THE RAILROAD TRACKS THAT WAS ACCESSED BY A FIRE ESCAPE TO THE ROOF. PERFECT FOR CAPES.

>AS THE YEARS WENT BY, THE INSECURITY AND ANGST STARTED GIVING WAY TO SOMETHING MORE DIONYSIAN AND SELF-DESTRUCTIVE UNTIL FINALLY, AFTER ALL THE DARKNESS, I REACHED A CLEAR-EYED GYM-QUEEN CALM.

>LATER, THE MAIN REASON I TOOK A JOB AS ARTISTIC DIRECTOR WITH THE REVILLON FUR MAISON IN PARIS WAS ITS DIRECT LINEAGE TO GLAMOROUS, DECADENT, FIN-DE-SIECLE PARIS, MY NE PLUS ULTRA OF HIGH ARTIFICE. IT WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1763. SARAH BERNHARDT PROBABLY WORE A REVILLON FUR WITH THE TAXIDERMIED BAT SHE WORE IN HER HAIR.

>I WAS STILL ATTRACTED TO THE SAME AESTHETIC, BUT IT NOW HAD A LAYER OF AFFECTION. ALL THOSE YEARS OF DOOMED IDEALISM SEEN IN THE DAYLIGHT OF ADULTHOOD SEEMED RATHER SWEET. AND POIGNANT. EVERYTHING BLACK I EVER WORE AGAIN OR PUT ON A RUNWAY WOULD BE WITH A LOVING WINK.

>AND I FINALLY SEE THE LINES OF DISSAPATION IN MY FACE THAT I SO DESPERATELY WANTED IN MY YOUTH.

That a few old-soul fashion & art kids on the Internet can pull together a resonant fit with them doesn't change that. A$AP Rocky doesn't change that. At 25, more wizened and batted through the world than most Global Northerners, I stare at the top left corner of my intact hairline wondering if a particular micropatch's shade qualifies as grey and questioning if I'm enough yet to wear Rick.

>>10215925
I really hope you didn't mean to lump in Rick Owens with SLP. Like I don't even hate Hedi like a lot of people do, they're just two very different brands, not least of which in respect to this. Here, Hedi is Peter Pan.

Unfortunately all those clothes you associate as being young now will in fact be considered the old man clothes of the future. People don't generally decide they're old one day, they just keep wearing what they wore in their prime well into their grey old years.

Expect lots of grampas sporting levi 511's and low cut v-neck tees.
