oh god don't do this. My mom has like 30-40 plants in the living room and we only live in a shitty apartment. Gotta open up all the blinds to give the shits some sun but there's another apartment right across us so no privacy. Also watering them is such a fucking pain.

Get like one or two plants and take good care of them

dont make it cluttered. you have a good spot for a plant by that window. the light colors could bode well for a minimalist, white theme. however if you went that path your floormates will probably think you are a psychopath. not much to do unless you own your own place that isn't already prearranged for the most storage possible.

it'd be cool to see some places to actually buy minimalist looking furniture, even if it's ikea having links to stuff is really helpful... having just pictures in these threads doesn't seem that helpful

I've been trying to figure out what to do with the basement in terms of art or posters. The stupid panelling makes it awkward to fit poster sized prints in frames; I've only got about 38 inches between ceiling and panels. I'll probably have to go for something smaller and custom printed/framed. I wish I bought a better printer when I was in school, mine doesn't go any larger than 13" across.

I had a similar shit hole last year. At first I went all minimal like I had at home but the default in halls is just so disgusting that eventually I had to begrudgingly get more stuff (put photos on the wall, put all my books on display, made my desk a bit more cluttered) just so the place wasn't depressing. Make sure you get a lamp, nice warm lighting in the evenings can help to hide what a disgusting soulless filing cabinet you're living in!

Embrace more neutral colors such as white, black, gray, tans, pale blue or brown.
