They make serious efforts into ensuring that their factories, source material manufacturers, even the fucking truck companies that they do business with are all doing things with accordance to the law
No forced labor, no sweatshop conditions, no child labor
And they're full disclosure about everything...everything

Bizarre thread.

I've always preferred unethical brands. For an upper-middle class hero like myself, there's something very comforting in knowing that my sneakers were assembled by some kid somewhere who is literally living a life that would be considered hell by western standards. If I'm an example of a human being, you can't really use the same term to describe that kid, after all. Either he's less than human, or I'm MORE than human, you know?

Either way, I feel good about it.

Probably not in any form that it has previously had.
I believe that what used to be the western working class will become aware of their alienation and the purposelessness of their newly manufactured white collar jobs, either on their own or when automation finally makes them obsolete.
The illusion of your daily activities somehow having purpose ONLY by being productive in a commercial sense is growing thinner and I think it will bust at some point.
Then we can see social development such as a demand for a sense of creative self-realization and connectedness with other people that doesn't boil down to economic relations. Needless to say communal self-sufficiency is a way of achieving that which also undermines current mechanisms of capital flow.

That's probably the only thing that can happen in rich countries and it's not impressive in itself, but throw some third world emancipation in the mix and baby you've got a stew going.
