I always silently lol at these threads.

There is a word for the sort of person that would pay $450 for a t-shirt. That word is "madman".
Fortunately, it is still legal in some jurisdictions to be a madman.
As a preppie, the clothes I buy tend to cost more than Wal-Mart clothing. They also look better, fit better, and last longer than Wal-Mart clothing. And the best part is that the style never changes, because it isn't a style. Prep is a way of life. I could go back in time to 1982, 1962, or 1942 wearing the same clothes I am wearing right now and no one in those times would lift an eyebrow. That's what you call dressing "Ivy League classic".
I don't care if some overcompensated moron spends $400 on a T-shirt. What I can't stand are men who dress like gigantic eight year old boys: the below-the-knee cargo shorts, Star Wars t-shirt, baseball cap, and giant white sneakers look. Add the neckbeard (de rigueur) and you have a look that puts you where the action is, from the Brony meeting to the D&D table.

Guys, if you look like this, STOP. Just stop. I don't care if you "don't care whut uther paypul thank". I don't care if you "dress fer kumfert". You are a blight and a pestilence and you are hurting your fellow man with your ugly and ridiculous appearance.

It's an easy fix, though: just stop dressing like a boy and start dressing like a man.

Wear a shirt and trousers. By "shirt" I mean a fitted garment with buttons on it. A t-shirt is an item of underwear, not a shirt meant for street wear.

Wear shoes. By "shoes" Adult shoes -- not tennis shoes, not sneakers, not flip-flops, SHOES. You can wear your sneakers on the basketball or tennis court. Grow up and put on some real shoes.
All this done well and any male can look like a man. You don't have to look like a retard, fellows. DO IT.

Read this

I don't get people who don't do what they want.

Fashion is like anything, you should behave in accordance to your own tastes. I think Rick's clothing is beautiful, and that's why I buy and wear it.

The only intention Rick has is for you to like his things and wear them. If you don't like it, fine.

If you don't understand it, maybe that's on you. I like how you are so quick to shrink an idea like art appreciation into "2deep4u". Why like anything? Are you supposed to just have a passing interest in things? Are we going to ignore that digging deep into any area of fine art is very rewarding, or that it alters your perception? Rick is the kind of designer that takes the history of clothing and fashion into consideration with his designs, as well as a sort of prediction of where it can, or should, go. If you are used to just fast fashion jeans and t-shirts everywhere, I can see how it would be jarring, but to me it looks very natural, it has a timeless quality and a very modern feeling to it.

I'm not going to listen to the radio all the time just so I can know all the music everyone talks about, I'm going to listen to shit I love to listen to even if I can't talk to most people about it. I'm not going to wear shit you think is appropriate because who are you, and why do you think I need to impress you? I don't really want anything to do with someone who has an issue with the way I look.If I'm crossing the street and people are staring, then whatever, I'm probably listening to music or talking to someone.

This never happens though. I've never had any social problems. If anything, it's brought me into contact with people I can relate to.

So there you go. Do what you want, because you're going to die

Most of the leathers since FW12 Mountain are made in Moldova. All the leather and patterning is done by Olmar and Mirta in Italy but the sewing is done in Moldova to cut down on labor costs.
YKK makes boutique zippers like the excella line which rules but he doesn't use them. He uses the basic YKK zips now and the fucking pulls are so cheap and tarnish. They just don't have the weight or finish deserving of a high end product like Raccagni did.

can anyone tell me why this tee has two hemlines? Also this is a double layer right?

>> No.10195779

>>10195735
The Reddit post people are posting a rant about upthread actually has a really good explanation about what's going on with the unstable double layer tees.

>It has two layers, but only one seam. That means the fabric folds into itself and is stitched only at one end. Because of this, there really is no lower hem. The double layer means there is always fabric behind the fabric. This makes the fabric cling to itself producing a wrinkled pattern that adds a lot of patterned detail to what would be otherwise a plain featureless surface on which the eye would simply slip. The shirt can be worn wrinkly and short or loose and long, and this is quite nice for it allows some silhouette play with visual proportions. My favorite feature comes from the fact that the back seam is a diagonal cut--this is where the "unstable" in the name comes from. This means that, even when laid flat, the shirt won’t be wrinkle free. Like the grain in a slice of wood, the wrinkles all flow pulled in one direction giving a very interesting effect of motion even when static. It's like a frozen drape effect.

>>10198767
Depends which shirt and your style, which is only slightly less general than "you can wear what you want," but you asked a pretty general question.

I think pod shorts are very versatile. Some body types and styles might want to avoid super slim fitted shirts, especially wovens, but that's about it.

>>10199430
>>10199443
You guys dress yourselves, but I have to disagree. The only reason Ramones might be easier to style is because they're inferior and simply semi-disappear in their uninterestingness.

IMO pretty much any body type can pull off any Rick footwear if they know how to style themselves, and Geo and Ramone silhouettes are close enough that anyone who can pull off one can pull of the other, and if anything Geobaskets seem slightly more able to flow into bodies.

It's unfair and dull, but to be honest, whenever I see someone wearing standard Ramones I assumed they wanted standard Geobaskets and settled.

>> No.10200117

>>10200073

That's quite an assumption considering they are different silhouettes.

Geos are unsubtle compared to ramones which is why they work a bit easier. Geos require more work to style around because they are clearly a basket shoe silhouette with the swoosh and wide, tall tongue. The rear upper pull being ribbed adds to this as well. It adds a lot of weight to the lower side of the body. It really calls for somebody with a larger body like a basketball player. If you have skinny calves Geos are gonna look like shit

You're quite right in saying that they're both 100% cotton, but that has the same bearing as saying something is 100% wood, you wouldnt buy a guitar made out of Pine. Theres massive variations of quality levels of cotton, and then how that cotton is then made into garments, such as if its jersey etc etc

Standard rick tees are alot cheaper, thats what really should be compared to an off the rack tee from Hanes. Comparing a unique rick tee, which is what the unstable double layers are to something from hanes is pretty daft.

It is; like I said, it's an unfair and dull gut reaction I can't defend. But I feel it.

But all Rick Owens shoes are unsubtle and visually weighty. That's a large part of what they have going on. That the Geos are slightly more unsubtle and weighty are why they're better than the Ramones, which in their standard form amount to inflated Converse. In comparison, it's boring.

The shoes are about, among other things, excess, moving away from a classically proportioned figure and shoe silhouette using those silhouettes as a starting point. The Geo just does it more, and so better. That they stick out from twig legs, as if Ramones don't too, is a good thing.

Lol, the real thing is that you're living in a cave full of Rick Owens fanposters and spending your time giving mental energy to hating on something. Go cultivate a better affect somewhere.

I don't have sizing advice or first hand experience with this, but I've heard you can order custom sized Rick shoes at any of the company owned stores, including the sneakers. Haven't heard anything about the price. Just throwing this out there for anyone it might be useful for.

Just copped this at DSM last weekend. It's my first Rick piece and I'm worried I'm gonna get hooked on this shit. It's super soft and drapey and I think it'll work with a bunch of other shit that isn't Rick. It seems like a versatile piece.

First Rick purchase and nervous as fuck. Should I go with the top or bottom pair? Assume my wardrobe is basic bitch tier (I'm working on it.)

Here were the descriptions:
Top. 100% authentic Rick Owens DRKSHDW Ramones sneakers
Brand New

Bottom. Worn a handful of times. Heel Shows no signs of wear. Heel taps added. Ships w/ box
(Vegan Ramones)

I'm super worried about this purchase since its the most cash I've ever dropped on clothing before. Can anyone tell me if these are fakes?

Really that's just good news for me then if it means the 2nd hand price is lower.
But I think I'll sit on the decision for a while anyway, 200 for a tee is kinda fucking steep especially on my budget and deciding between the tee and longsleeve probably isn't that simple either.
