I use water and Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie in the morning, and Eco Styler occasionally.

When I wash I use a ACV/Baking soda rinse followed by Suave almond and shea butter conditioner. I co-wash in lieu of shampooing.

Well it depends where you live. Virtually nobody in Toronto gives a fuck about them, but again, with a style like dreadlocks you have to absolutely make sure everything else is on point (ie shaving the sides/back makes them look "clean", I tie them up, mostly out of convenience tho, and I don't dress like a hippie/pothead. Oh and I'm always clean shaven). I am also fairly attractive, so if you aren't blessed in the genetics dept. you're out of luck

All of the above wouldn't make a difference if you lived in some racist shithole, or such.

Dreadlocks to me are a style that will accentuate everything else about you. If you dress sloppy, you'll look like a lowlife, if you dress sharp, you'll def look amazing

it ends up however you want it to honestly. you gotta remember that the weeknds shit took a while. if you don't touch your hair and never give it moisture/wash it and allow it to clump together like that it'll eventually stay like that. but if u, i guess, pull it apart if shit starts to loc together it'll never happen. also when you do that towel rub shit (starting from low hair) you can basically make as many lil dreads as u want in whatever locations.
to keep them alive just put a gel on them a lot and don't get it wet a lot (i used to just wet my hands as if im washing them in the morning and then run them thru my hair. try to wear a shower cap).

I'm not heat or sulphate free (straightened hair is a time saver and I don't shampoo super often so i'm not bothered) , don't take biotin etc but I do wear my hair up a lot- the less I touch it, the faster it grows. Routine including shampoo days when wearing curly is just shampooing at the root with H and shoulders/shiseido tsubaki shampoo/ausiee (miracle moist), conditioning with miracle moist/frizz miracle/luscious long or avocado oil conditioner. I deep condition with olive oil conditioner/henna, and use spray leave in conditioner (aussie luscious long), vatika hair oils or cream conditioners.

The flat root issue seems a bit ridiculous but there's usually reasonable volume throughout my hair, and it isn't at its longest length so the flat top is annoying. Will try a volumising shampoo at the root though I've found them a bit drying in the past.
