Don't use shampoo with sulfates in it and don't shampoo everyday. Use a conditioner that's also a cleanser, I use sheamoisture co-wash. And never comb/brush/pick it if when it's totally dry. You can use like creams and oils to make it even softer but just cutting sulfate shampoo and conditioning regularly you'll see a big difference. I'm mixed too and never really knew how to take care of it until like a year ago
