I got a pair of white sambas as my new beaters. There's a foam pad under the sole for extra arch support but if you peel it off they're way more comfortable. Plus they look better dirty imo

If I spend more than $100 on shoes the idea that I should be taking care of them is always in the back of my mind, so personally I like chucks or vans for real beaters. That way I have zero inhibitions when it comes to damaging them.

Is there such a thing as Stan Smiths with a red tongue logo and red suede heel with the slightly yellow sole?

I've found some in red but the heel tab is plastic looking. I hear the ones with a suede heel are European and are better quality than the US version.

Yes, if it has the suede heel tab it will have the yellowed sole. I don't know how they treated the rubber but the soles on those shoes yellow *very* fast. If it looks white in the image, the display model has likely just been taken out of the box.

I have both the American and EU version which together came with white soles when brand new. The soles on the American stans are still white, while the EU pair yellowed within 1-2 weeks.

Just personal preference. Adidas seems to have gone with more vintage stylings on the EU version, so it would make sense for them to yellow quickly.
