I used acrylic art paint you can get an an art store. I combined it with a bit of crackling paint additive and formulated so it won't flake.

After the first layer I sanded it down so it would be a primer to reduce peeling. I then applied 2 more layers on top.

If you look at worn painted Maison Martin Margiela GATs, they age in the exact same way. In fact, wearers often complain of them flaking at the toebox. Mine haven't. My friend has a pair of worn MMM painted GATs and they look worse for wear.

I can gurantee if these weren't DIY you would not be bashing this hard.

This is a pointless argument, but your assuming I painted them just because MMM did so. These are not the first shoes I've painted, but GATs lend themselves to paint better than most shoes. That is also why MMM decided to do it.

Not only that, but I used a completely different technique, and type of paint than him.

I think that is more than enough distinction.
